I'm a firm believer in positive thinking, in that your thoughts have a dramatic effect on what you attract in life over time (yet often subtle short-term). I'm sure there's plenty of people who find this to be silly, but to each his own, right?

And just because you believe in positive thinking for a happier lifestyle, doesn't mean it has anything to do with lotto.  So what do you believe? Is there a link?

Yep. Just like I said in another thread, in every situation that I've been in, if I remained optimistic that things would go the way I wanted it, with no doubt in my mind that it would, it did. Now, I'm just waiting to hit the jackpot.Cool

I think that it could go in any direction. There are many people in this world who make it their point in life to be positive, yet have bad things happen in their lives.

It doesen't hurt to be positive, but there's no guarantee for success.

I have to agree with pac on this one.

Several years ago I was in a casino and a slot machine "ate" a twenty dollar bill of mine and I had to wait quite awhile for someone to come & open the machine and give my twenty back.So long that I was starting to get mad. After I got my twenty back,I moved to the next machine. On the second pull I hit "doubles" on all three wheels for a pretty signifacant progressive jackpot. If I could hit a jackpot every time I'm mad,I'd stay mad all the time!

I think it's better to think that you have a chance to win or will win then to buy tickets and think there is no way in hell you will win. I think it's better to be positive then negative, but to each their own.

Positive thinking can't hurt, but it must be kept within reality.

No one should clean out a savings account or blow a paycheck on a lottery drawing because they're "positive" they're going to hit a jackpot.

All the positive thinking in the world isn't going to get someone with limited or no playing abilities a major league baseball contract, for example, or no amount of positive thinking is going to let someone who has never boxed get in the ring with a professional prizefighter and win. (If someone were to try that I'm positive they'd get their butt kicked!)

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

              Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Bad things are guaranteed to happen. And I agree you can't just have a life exactly like you want just because you're always positive (cant be pro athlete, cant be astronaut, cant be jackpot winner, etc), but the odds of these things happening increase when bad things happen and you persevere through them because you were thinking positive

Life is like a wave, there's ups and downs, it's how you react to the downs that helps define how happy you will be overall.

Perhaps it has no effect on the numbers, but it will impact your play style, like the office workers in the pools that get upset and stop playing only to find out their coworkers won the next jackpot.

If you have a serious illness and your immune system has been compromised, then positive thinking, exercise and relaxation techniques might help you to fight off the disease because the mind is closely connected with the body & spirit.

If your leg is amputated, however, you can be cheerful & positive every moment of every day, but when you wake up, your leg will still be missing.

Does this mean that everyone who gets the flu is miserable?  Of course not.  Positive thinking means that you wake up with a bright outlook on whatever you are about to face that day. It means that failure won't discourage you and you'll do your best to challenge the toughest adversity.

I think people often confuse positive thinking with having unrealistic expectations.

I voted "no."  Positive thinking has an effect on a lot of things, but I don't believe the numbers drawn is one of them.   IMO it will have an effect on how happy you'll be, win or lose, though.

Yes, I think positive thinking has an effect on my winning. If not, I would not be playing the lottery. Now, I am aware that if I live long enough and play consistently and patiently, I will win!

I totally agree with this observation.  I try to stay positive, even while bad things are happening; not just in lotto but in all life situations.  But  in lotto, I have times where my mind says "it's not going to happen this week"  I have to force that thought out of my head and consciously repeat  "i can happen, it can happen"  I try to believe in positive thinking and the laws of attraction.  But you're right, no one's life is going to ALWAYS  go perfectly  but bad things are gauranteed to happen.  However, when good things happen, unless its something huge like a lottery win, or you find money or a great job,  the good things (the small ones) goes unnoticed.  I'm trying to smell the roses on all things good.  Its hard in these difficult times, but I'm trying.
