I claim $15 USD from a POWERBALL lottery ticket, but I forgot to ask if I can keep my ticket,so I can keep track of my lottery winning(s)/losses!  Could have I get the person to mark the ticket and keep the ticket or do I have to make a copy before I go to claim a prize?  Is it still possible for me to come back the next day and if I see the same person, then I can ask them to check the machine to see if my ticket is still there and the person can mark my ticket?

This varies by retailer. Some will insist they keep/discard the ticket. Others will give it back to you with a lottery receipt showing how much was paid.

Scan it into your computer or photocopy it.

A lot of retailers around here tear it and throw it in the trash after they get the payout slip. They don't ask if we want the ticket back. Which kinda makes me wonder, could that be considered vandalism and/or theft? I mean, you do OWN the ticket. It is considered property.

With the G-Tech machines once the ticket is cashed two receipts come out a player copy and a retailers copy. The retailer no longer needs the original ticket. If someone attempts to cash a ticket that has already been cashed it will say ticket already cashed on the machine's screen. Some retailers shred cashed tickets immediately after cashing to insure no dumpster divers are retriving cashed scratchers and recashing.

Would a retailer have to mark the winning ticket, since how about if I go to a different retailer with the ticket then, would they know that it was already cashed?

That information is stored in the lottery's database and once you cash that ticket it is flagged so it cannot be cashed again no matter where you take it.

Do you guys think that I can come back today from the time that I came by it was close to the cutoff time of yesterday?  I can just say the POWERBALL ticket which has a winning red ball (34) and the POWERPLAY was purchased on it!  Or should I just stay home?  I guess that I can ask the retailer if they let the people keep their ticket or not!

On the little ones you can keep the ticket, not on the big ones!

Any ticket cashed that requires tax collection info. will be kept and turned into lottery headquarters,  because you signed the back of the ticket.   So if you want a keepsake, on a big hit, scan it into a image file. Like this:

pball tix  Not a big winner but this is the idea.

That is what I do. When I take tickets to cash in they keep them. So if I want copies of certain tickets, I just use my scanner and that way I have a copy.

I went to the store today and I ask that they just give you a receipt, but it wasn't the same person.  When I come back and see the same person who cashed me the ticket,is it possible for me to print a receipt from the ticket that I handed to them a few days ago?

You can ask, but it is most likely the cashed ticket has been thrown away and you wont be able to get a receipt for it.

I work at a gas station and ask all customers if they want the cashed tickets back if they dont i just give them the receipt for the amount paid. Then i take the tickets, shred them and throw them in the garbage
