Just thought I'd acknowledge for all the people who could not access the site between about 1:30 AM and 8:30 AM this morning that it was not your computer, it was the site being offline. I have been (and still am) working hard this morning to re-establish everything and bring it all back up. What a wonderful start to Mother's Day. Hope yours is/was better than ours over here.

Thanks Todd. I am hoping the day shifts from better to BEST for you. One can imagine what you deal with just comparing our computers to your LP System spreading wide and beyond.

I check LP at this website to see if it's just me, or it's also down for everyone. Keeps one from guessing if it's hardware, software, or internet connection issue. Hope that gives a little piece of mind. Quite unusual for LP to get down without prior noticed, but things happens. Thanks Todd for this post.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Things definitely improve when the site and server is operating smoothly. Eventually this kind of down-time will be a thing of the past. Among other things that are in the works, I will have triple-redundancy of the server, so that a web server can crash and nobody will notice a thing. It takes a lot of planning and development work, but hopefully by LP's 10th anniversary it will be a reality.

Yeah as a developer myself I *KNOW* how hard it can be to get a really solid uptime, fault tolerance can be tricky to get "just right" so many points to cover, power, storage, environment, backbone connections, multi-home IP's things like where cables are run both on-prem and off-prem, rouge backhoes that rip power and network cables, the list goes on... and the cost of each step from say 98% goes way up... like going from 99.5 to 99.9 can cost as much as going from 95 to 99 pct. best of luck with the plans :-)
