My first time playing the lottery was in the early to mid 80's.The Illinois lotto was at 40 million dollars,a record amount at that time.I had to wait in line for 2 hours because so many people wanted to play.I ended up winning $40 and I was hooked.

I was in my 3rd year in the military and I was sick of it. I thought the lottery would be my ticket out of the military. One night after work I bought $3 Mega Millions tickets. I won $7.. eventually I finished the military and I still play the lottery today.

i was in college and 1 night i was listening to a conversation that i was in they weren't talking to me but i was there in the conversation and someone said that they played scratchoffs and that it was cool, so i stored it in my head and i said to myself that whenever i get money i will go and buy me one, the gas station was on the next block of the college...So the following night lots of people mentioned the lottery topic and how cool it was to play it [we were in a college dorm] and how much each scratchoff pay, which they were talking like 200,000 or 20,000 i can't remember.... So i said to myself again reminding me that the next time i'll go and play it because i thought if i win i could pay for college which was 20,000 dollars...So i went at night and play my first scratchoff for 1 dollar, back then i think that's all they had 1 & 2 dollars i din't play lottery just scratchoffs, i didn't know anything about ball lotteries didn't even know they existed....That dorm was so spectacular that it felt that it was a church brotherhood...Nobody fought we all got along...that college were unforgettable memories... I picked the scratchoff that was easy, i picked one that stood out among the others, it was white with a blue center it was like a tick tack toe kind of one....And after that i kept playing that particular one...But when i was in the college i'll play like once a month....Because i'll get money from my parents once a month i think it was 40 dollars every two weeks for me.... After that first moment it wasn't until 2 years later that i'll learn that scratchoffs have the worse odds and i began playing Pick4.... but i'll not venture into Pick6 until i had a job at a Mc. Donalds and i played 2 times Pick6 1 dollar each and got 3/5 tickets which after that moment i thought i was certainly going to win Pick6 which pay millions...That Pick6 was a Pick6/42 or 44 can't remember.... but that's not what got me hooked what got me hooked was like 1 and 1/2 year later i began reading about the lottery on the internet and i kept reading about the different systems and methods & tactics and lottery software promises and i began to believe in them...that's what got me hooked... Gosh so long ago. My Grandfather took our family on a trip in his RV....along the way he taught me to play Poker..and lotto. We collected tickets across the US. I guess the very first place we played was in Florida where we would talk, Fish, fill out play slips, and talk about what we were going to do with the money.(Basicly run away to Alaska...Hunt Fish and travel!..LOL) Good memories of Grandpa.....Still enjoy playing Florida lotto when I get down that way........

You know.... this is such a cool topic! We need more like this to keep the enthusiasm, thx..petergrfn :) I'll never forget... It was 1984...summer... I was driving through a subdivision in Madison Hts. MI; single at the time, thinking to myself, no one else in the car with me, I just said... man... you know... all I would need is 10mils.... ten million dollars, that's it!!! I thought if I had that much cash, I'd be all set, and all right. I thought about more & less, but ten mils net seem to solve many things. Then, I somehow stumbled upon Gail Howard. She had a brief info on Lotteries. I sent away for it, picked apart, tried to understand the meaning of what she said. And Boy Oh Boy... that was it. I thought I had the answer to the jackpot. Back then I was single, not much bills, so I decided to put her stuff to the test. Oh My.. I was wheeling 16...18.. sometimes 22 numbers.... with no end in sight. lol... lol.... My sister would ask me... hey.. so, um.... how much are you spending in the lotto game?? My reply was... ahhh...$40.00, $60.00, $30.00. LoL.... I thought her eyes.. were going to pop out of her head!! lol NOTE: Back in those days... it was only a test. A test, to see if Gail Howard's Stuff works. As Big John Says... "You don't hit the numbers...The Numbers Hit You" That is so true Big John... That is so true.... So... after losing my cash with close wins.. but no wins.. I was labeled as a Big Spender with no money...in my sis's eyes. Later on, I bought Gail Howard's Software, and... I purchased Mike Walters windows program later, also. Just to see what's up! I got my hands on everything I could find about this stuff... Cause I was thirsty. I couldn't get Enough. Sort of like Sex with a beautiful woman :) Lotto gurus such as Robert Serotic, Gail Howard, and Steve Player helped with much of my thinking; not only number selection, but cost budgeting as well. In Fact, Robert was one of the pioneers that help create Versa Bet Software & JPL Computers. Don't know what happened to him, but he was very helpful in my insight. In fact, I used one of his wheeling programs that helped me pay for Gail Howard's software on my ex-wife's credit card. It's too bad she was never into lottery like me. Anyhow, I'm not as thirsty to hit the Jackpot as before, don't get me wrong.. I'd love to see a jackpot win for myself. I'm also glad I found Todd's Lottery Post, because this is such a great hobby to me. I don't spend as much as in the early days, I'm more seasoned, to wait, for the right time to play a string of nums, and hope Lady Luck will be there for me to greet me with a new Jackpot just for me :)

It was nothing special. I saw the scratchers at the store and bought one, realizing I was of legal age. Didn't win anything, but I bought a couple more and lost interest quickly. It was until several months ago when I was out job hunting. I stopped at 7/11 for a drink and decided to buy a 2 dollar scratcher. I won 4 dollars... At that point, I wanted to buy more scratchers with the money I won, hoping I could win even more. I looked on the michigan lotto website and discovered the jackpot games. It was here, I started playing classic 47, hoping to win the jackpot (which I didn't even win 5 dollars back). But I am still hoping to win, just not by spending as much as I have.

My first time, makes me sound like a lotto virgin...well not now, but back then...."Picture it Detroit 1985, I was 10 and my Grandma was buying Instant tickets that I could Scratch and she would say....Loser...Loser...Loser.. <snip> Boy you gonna scratch a winner.... Oh well Fast forward to TN Its TN first day of Lottery...every Redneck and wannabe in the state was there...oh Sorry Gov.. I did not mean you...whatever, I spent a few bucks, lost a few bucks... SO I went to Ga instead.... "Our TN lotto motto should be, Scratch not what we can sratch for you, but what you can scratch for yourself" This post has been automatically changed by the Lottery Post computer system to remove inappropriate content and/or spam. I found this kinda strange at a local church the car had a bumper sticker "Play GODS LOTTO, if you are good and your number is up you win!!!!"

I do not remember my first ticket. However, at the time, Michigan had pre-printed paper tickets that were red, white, and blue. I don't remember the name of the game but the drawing was once a week and you could win $1,000,000. There were $1 scratch tickets and the online tickets consisted of pick 3 and some wierd card game with wierd prize amounts and those card(as in a deck of playing cards) tickets were easy pick only...I do not remember the name of that game either.

my first time ever playing the lottery was the grand opening of the tennessee lottery which i think was back in february of 2004 at midnight when they started selling scratch offs.a month later they started the pick 3 in march of 2004.i bought around fifty dollars worth of scratch offs and i think i won most of the money back. Way back in the Stoneage when I first played the lottery, the games were more like raffles. A co-worker had bought some tickets in Pennsylvania and I bought $5 worth of them. I didn't win but I was one of the first people in line to play the Buckeye 300 when the Ohio Lottery started. There were other raffle type games before they went online with the Pick-3 game. I hit my license plate number straight and boxed for a dollar on the second drawing and been hooked ever since. When the Lotto game started, I wrote down all the numbers, cut them into squares, and drew the squares out of a hat. I finally hit 5 out of 6 after playing those combos for over six months. That drawing was the highest jackpot to that date so even though I didn't hit it, I thought while the chances were very small, I at least had a realistic chance of winning one. The lotteries sure have progressed from the days when the top prize was $300,000 (20 $15,000 a year payments) to the multi-million dollar jackpots of today.
