Whether it is either QPs or your selected numbers-- the bottom line is that you have to be at the right place and right time in buying your lotto tickets i.e. LUCK OF DRAW. The CA winner of last week's 166.5MM Mega Million jackpot happen to purchased his ticket at a restaurant and spend only $1.00. If it was a QP or his selected numbers I doubt it would it have made a difference
Sorry Dollar419 I don't buy your theory of having to be at the right place at the right time.
If I select my numbers I'll say for MM since we can both play that game......it doesn't matter if I buy my ticket today, tommorrow, Monday night or Tues. an hour before the drawing....the numbers I choose will still be the same and either they hit or they don't. I don't believe if my numbers hit it was because I bought them at 1:00pm Sunday at 7/11 instead of Tuesday at 5:00pm at the gas station on my way home.
If I choose to buy QP's the difference would be depending on when I buy them obviously the numbers spit out by the machine will be different...but the outcome will still be the same......either the numbers hit or they don't.
I believe in alot of mystical things but I don't believe that some greater power predetermines that on X day a winning ticket will be sold at X location at X time....

I see it as quite the opposite. when someone hits a jackpot on a QP, which is the most common, not only did they ask for the ticket the exact nano-second the loto machine spits out that set of numbers, but then those numbers are drawn.
Or take the case of the guy in Indiana who played his own numbers, his five kids' birthday years, for 20 years. One day he went to play his ticket, had forgottne his glasses, and played 48 instead of 46, and won $3,000,000.
That smacks of "right place at the right time", even with a "wrong" number!
That's way beyond coinicdence, isn't it?
Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.
There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Ok I hope I don't contradict myself here......
Let's say I want to play MM and I decide I'm going to buy QP's so I take a walk around the corner and purchase my tickets from the gas station. The numbers are drawn and guess what....all 6 numbers matched. Call it luck, coincidence, call it whatever you want. Obviously if I had waited to purchase my tickets say even by a few minutes I would have a completely different set of numbers and the outcome would be different......in a sense yes I was "at the right place at the right time".
If you re-read Dollar419's post, he/she stated "The CA winner of last week's 166.5MM Mega Million jackpot happen to purchased his ticket at a restaurant and spend only $1.00. If it was a QP or his selected numbers I doubt it would it have made a difference"
I don't agree with that. If he had picked his own numbers I think the outcome would have been very different If I choose my own numbers I don't think it really matters where, what time, or even the day I purchase my tickets because my numbers will still be the same. If my numbers hit I don't believe it was because I was "at the right place at the right time".
In the case of the guy from Indiana I believe it was a lucky mistake that helped him win that $3,000,000 and not because he was in "the right place at the right time."
If I truly believed that winning the lottery amounted to the luck of the draw and being at the right place at the right time.....I wouldn't worry about patterns, past draws and whether or not to pick my own numbers LOL I'd be too busy trying to figure out how to be at the right place at the right time when I purchased my tickets.
As for QP's.......it would be very interesting to see how many lines of QP's are sold per game vs selected numbers, and it would be even more interesting if we could actually see the combinations played. When a QP wins I don't see it so much as the winner was in the right place at the right time so much as I see it as you have this massive group of lines with millions of combinations vs maybe thousands of selected lines and one of those lines actually matched. When you look at the odds the massive group(QP's) is more likely to contain the winner. Not because the QP has an advantage over selected numbers but because it is part of a massive group of combinations. The fact that more QP's are winners doesn't mean that if I buy QP's I'll have a better chance of winning.
Of course this is my opinion and I can respect the fact that we all have our own opinions and because I don't agree doesn't make me right or you wrong LOL we simply see things differently : )
