Powerball coming to Maryland, Massachusetts

I think making the odds worse would be counter-productive and curtail increased spending.

If they're smart IMO, they'll leave it alone and watch revenues increase.

I think people will spend more, especially those who will be saving gas money by not having to drive out of state anymore.

i emailed my TN lotto

asking about if  they are thinking about joining MM now that they could if they wanted

and telling them i would buy mm tickets if they do

i got this as a reply:

 We are excited about the possibility of bringing Mega Millions to Tennessee. 
 This will be discussed by our Tennessee Lottery Board at the November meeting and a decision should be made soon.

 thro am sure all the lotto states we have not heared form yet are busy  setting up meetings about this

OnMonday, Nov. 2, the Tennessee Education Lottery Board of Directorstoday unanimously voted to offer a second mega-jackpot game inTennessee, which is expected to bring an additional $10 to $15 millionannually to education programs in the state.
“Bringing Mega Millions into our portfolio of games is a win forboth players and education,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEOof the Tennessee Lottery. “It’s clear that large jackpots generateexcitement in Tennessee. Adding Mega Millions will mean more sales andadditional dollars for the education programs we fund.”
The decision to allow states the option of offering both Powerballand Mega Millions has been prohibited until a recent agreement wasreached in a joint meeting of all U.S. lottery jurisdictions. Althoughadditional details must be finalized, Tennessee Lottery fans can expectto begin playing Mega Millions in early 2010.
“It’s clear that a large percentage of our players support amega-jackpot game, and I’m optimistic about the success of addinganother such game,” said Hargrove, who is Chair of the Powerball Groupand has been a longtime and leading proponent of cross-selling bothgames.
Mega Millions is currently played in 12 states with a combinedpopulation of 160 million. Powerball is currently available in 33jurisdictions (31 states plus the District of Columbia and VirginIslands) with a combined population of 125 million. The current MegaMillions jackpot is $50 million; the current Powerball jackpot is $66million.
