Gambling is a sin; why would I pray to the Lord to win? That's like praying to the Lord to be obese or praying to the Lord to get drunk faster. I'm a sinner; I play lotto.
The problem with churches these days is that they ignore the fact that Lotto is a form of gambling. The Lotto websites sucker people into "helping education" or "helping out the community".... but in small-print it reads "Gambling problem? Call ###-###-####". While you ask the Lord to win, you might as well ask for more deaths and divorces.
Think about it.
There is no verse in the Bible that says "You shall not gamble".
So what does the Bible say about the purchase of lottery tickets?
Gambling shows a lack of faith in God's provision for our needs. Honest labor is the means that God has ordained for us to provide for our needs and the needs of others (Exodus 20:8). In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus encouraged His disciples not to worry about the future. He promised that the heavenly Father would take care of them as He took care of the birds and the flowers. Gamblers believe in luck and hope to receive reward for no labor.
Gambling shows a disregard for the laws of God. The clear motivation of gambling is greed, or covetousness, which the tenth commandment forbids. Ephesians 5:5 says that no covetous person has an inheritance in the kingdom of God, and Colossians 3:5 says that covetousness is idolatry.
Gambling shows a lack of love for others. The few who win lottery payoffs do not care where the money came from or who was hurt in the process. Many players are gambling addicts who are robbing their families of needed resources. How can a Christian feel good about benefiting from the misery of others?
Gambling will undermine the ethics and morals of young people. Youths learn from the examples of their parents and other adults. Parents who gamble endorse gambling and set an example for their children to follow.
Lotteries are thinly veiled cloaks for greed and selfishness. Christians can stand out as stars in a dark culture by refusing to participate in the many forms of gambling, including the lottery. "Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
A mind once stretched by a new idea never returns to its original dimensions!
Catch-22: A dilemma or difficult circumstance from which there is no escape because of mutually conflicting or dependent conditions.
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges: When the republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous.

The bible does not specifically say anything about gambling, the word is never mentioned so all of those passages are just APPLIED too gambling bible folks enjoy taking passages in the bible and applying them to certain behaviours we human beings engage in and call it sin or against GOD,but seeing as how I don't follow the bible none of those passages apply too me anyway
