I am a newby in the LP neighborhood, so If this questions has been asked before, please forgive, and let me know (you won't hurt my feelings!) What started you playing the lottery (to include all games) was it a spur of the moment thing, Did a friend, relative, or your State Lottery start you on your quest for winnings? What, Who, When or Where? My Dear mother was a pick 3 player, we started playing together, the joy we felt when we hit was awesome! (ya'll know what I'm talking about) CHERYL59

(ya'll know what I'm talking about) My father is a lotto freak, and when I was a kid he'd spend hours daydreaming out loud about what he'd do if he won. He probably dedicated a little too much time and energy to daydreaming, and put living on hold waiting for the payday that has yet to come. I've had the bug for almost 20 years, but I'm trying to not let it get out of control. I can tell you it ends with me, though. I won't be passing this on to my kid. "...a chance to push everything aside, the circumstances that've controlled our lives, and do it our way now. Good, bad or otherwise. You'll maybe get lost in it, tied up in it a little bit, but if you work your way through that the real you shows up, I think. Maybe what's at your core deep down, maybe that comes out. Maybe that's what it's about." Mike Pace

When Kentucky instituted their lottory in 1992 I drove up there and purchased a few tickets. The drive was pleasant; losing wasn't. Oh, yes, I had the dreams, just like everyone else. While I do not play much ( $10 year to date) I will throw a dollar at Tennessee's P5 game every now and then. But the dreams are gone; reality set in a long time ago. What I find exciting about the lottory today centers around recording the winning numbers, looking for patterns, tracking those patterns, programming my computer to find patterns that come to me after my nightmares, reading what others have to say about "cracking" the lottory. I just love Lottory Post and admire Todd for having the sagacity to put this site together and the knowledge to improve it. But the bottom line is: "The dreams are gone".

(ya'll know what I'm talking about) When I was younger, my mom used to love gambling at the casinos and playing scratch off tickets. (She doesn't go to casinos that often anymore or play scratch offs much.) But, every now and then, she would buy me a couple of tickets to play. This was before, I was old enought to buy tickets on my own. I guess that is how my joy, of playing the lottery got started. i got hooked in college after taking statistical process control. or spc . i thought is the lottery on the up and up. yes you get the bell curve on the daily three i track the sum of the numbers as a whole and the 3 positions .numbers adding up to 11 12 13 14 15 16 will come out more than any others because theres more of them. numbers adding up to 4 came out 15 times last year while numbers adding up to 14 came out 58 times , 13 was first with 59.add in hi lo odd even it can make you crazy even with an educated guess!!!

I don't remember what year I first started playing lotteries but it was the Irish sweepstakes, (based on Irish horse races), which were illegal here but we played them anyway. There was also a Spanish lottery called the fat one (El Gordo) because the prizes were so big. Some of the Powerball and MegaMillion Jackpots now make it look puny. When New York got its first lottery the Irish sweepstakes died and the rest is history, I've been playing ever since. Megamillionaire Time is a wonderful teacher, but it kills all its students. A man must consider what a rich realm he leaves when he becomes a conformist.

When I was in Indiana, back when the jackpot was high (This was when Jack Whittaker won), I bought 1 powerball ticket. I won, I think, $2(at the time). Then I got hooked on this SINFUL addiction.

I believe it's in the Genes. My mother and father were avid gamblers. They use to take my younger sister and I to Pimlico Race track where they would bet and we ran around collecting losing tickets off of the ground, hoping, one of those drunk gamblers dropped a winning ticket. Oh...and there was the numbers man...... . The family always visited New Jersey...(Atlantic City) to visit family who lived there and the beasch. When the Casinos arrived we rarely visited the beach any more. Playing the lottery was just the natural thing to do. Feeling, PRICELESS!!!

Florida didn't have a lottery so I never thought much about it. When Florida began advertising the 6/49 lotto was starting I realized there was a big pot of money for the taking.
I'd seen ads for Gail Howard's book in the back of magazines, ordered a copy and was ready for the first draw with a 18 number open cover wheel for 12 dollars and won a four and threes two draws in a row, been hooked ever since trying for the jackpot.

Wow, I truly can't rember HOW, but I know when. I started playing lotto around September of 2007. I remember walking into a store and with a dollars worth of change bought a single scratcher and won $15. But I don't regularly play scratchers like I do lotto. Ive never really liked "gambling" even though thats what lottery is. In fact when we got o Vegas for vacation every year I actually don't gamble. I love walking around and looking at the hotel/casinoes and the shopping of course. I hate losing money but a dollar a day that I would spend frivolously anyway, doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

BobP I was waiting by the counter when they plugged in the terminal to start selling the Ohio Lottery's pick-3 game and hit my license plate number straight on the second drawing. A month later there was a rack of tip sheets next to the terminal and I bought Mr. Z's "Scientific Number Selector". My first lottery computer program was "Lottery Experts for Windows", which I used for many years. Still have one of Gail Howard's early books along with the plastic template, many "how to win the lottery" books, lottery number shakers devices, and 3 years of Lotto World magazines. I'm pretty sure I'd be qualified as being hooked too.

I remember the adults talking about The Irish Sweepstakes when I was a kid and it made me wonder why they just didn't do something like that here. Then in the 70's the family and I saw the first Pick3 on TV and we had all had picked a number just for fun to see who could come the closest. My daughter picked it STRAIGHT. I said hey this can be easy money and had my daughter pick numbers for the next few drawings and played them. Never happened again. LOL I played on and off sporadically over the years since then but have only been playing more regularly the last couple years. I don't take it too seriously anymore but rather as a fun hobby that I can afford and Lottery Post makes it more fun and interesting. Good luck to everybody here. Let's knock down that Mega now! . I will not comply. I will never submit.
