I recall reading that triples tend to appear on average every 100 draws.

On a more lunar note, they appear in NY a lot more during or just past a full or "new" 1st quater or last Quarter moon and between thursday - sunday, to narrow it down. Just a coincidence, I know, but when you research it, it narrows it down greatly....Don't know why.

When you feel like you should "Stop" playing a number, say it, but then play it for another 10 days....... sshhh

The mathematical average number of skips for triples is 1000.

that has to be wrong here's the skips for michigan since jan-2008

28draws 478-88-56-22-110-130-96-24-28-36-72-78-96  triples hit more often than 1000 in between just check your state and you will see.

in michigan it's between 70-130 draws for triple hits most common

and if you average it =100 draws

You're right.  For any ONE triple it is 1000, but since there are 10 of them, it is 100 skips for any triple.  Sorry about that.  It is early here on the left coast!

Triples are more appealing to play since the player does not have to worry about in what order to play them. The down side is that they are not drawn that often and, except when they are really late, it is hard to predict which one to play. Many Daily 3 players play all the ten triple numbers when they think that triples are due to come.

Michigan Lottery Daily 3 Triples summary
( As of Monday, February 08, 2010)
  • Total number of draws = 9893
  • Number of triples drawn = 95
  • Percent of total draws that triples are drawn = 0.960%
  • Average number of draws between triples = 104
  • Minimum number of draws between triples = 1
  • Maximum number of draws between triples = 539
  • Long-time-no-see triple number = 999(Thu Jun 9, 2005)
  • Most recent triple number = 888(Mon Jan 18, 2010)
  • Draws since most recent triple number = 43

The following table summarizes the data for each triple number. It lists, for each Michigan Lottery Daily 3 triple number, the number of times it is drawn, the date when it was last drawn, and how many draws ago is it since its last appearance.

While it isn't as laid out like Michigan Lottery Lottery Post has a search engine for all the triples it has a deflate and inspect feature and with a little pen and paper work you could create a summary just like Michigan's.

a rule of thumb, look for triples between 80 and 120 days if the haven't came out sooner.

Those of us that are serious about Pick 3 here in California do not play trips.  Since we are a pari-mutuel state, the straight payout for trips is often less that $300.  I have seen $230!  You do much better with a 6-way box!!

This looks like a "troll" question.  Since all your posts after that one show that you already knew the answer to the question and in some cases had more info than the rest of us!

I can usually spot a "troll", but you fooled me on that one!

At least you got a discussion going, which I'm sure was your intent.

I recall reading that triples tend to appear on average every 100 draws.

Based on the probabilities out of 100 draws, we should theoretically expect:
- 72 non-repeat numbers (72%)
- 27 one-repeats (27%)
- 1 triple (1%)

A mind once stretched by a new idea never returns to its original dimensions!
