I never play those $3 crossword/bingo games. Takes too long and that sticky blue translucent stuff is a lot messier compared to the regular dry stuff on other scratchers.
I pretty much only play the $5 scratchers here in CA, those are the top scratchers with the best odds and 6 figure top prizes. And no crossword/bingo games in this top tier. Only reason I'd buy a $1, $2 or $3 scratcher is to fill in to a round amount like $20 or for redemtions not in multiples of $5. But then I'd pick any other $3 game except a crossword/bingo for reasons already mentioned.
But I noticed sometimes that some others don't even bother spending the time playing those. They just scratch off the bar code area, then use the self-service scanners that some stores have to scan it themselves, and then leave it on the counter or dump it in the trash bin. Of course I will happily take those discarded crossword tickets to enter in the 2nd chance replay drawings!
