This is the reply from Kentucky. Please email your lottery and as for a fat one! Thanks for taking the time to write with your suggestion. i had a chance this afternoon to talk it over with our president and CEO Arch Gleason. Arch was a two-term president of the World Lottery Association, so I knew he'd be familiar with the game (and I'd heard about it in passing as well).
He agreed with your assessment that El Gordo is a fantastic game. In fact, a group that's been working for a year or two on a national game initially used El Gordo as a starting point to develop a game that would work well in all jurisdictions (although I think they've now moved away from that model).
As for a Kentucky implementation, Arch's belief was that we didn't have enough players to support a game structured in the same manner. Spain has about 60 million people that could buy tickets for El Gordo, and our player base isn't nearly that wide. However the overall concept and idea of the game is good, and one we'll definitely take a look at.
Thanks again for getting in contact, and best of luck to you!

This is the reply I got from Montana. I agree with you, I’ve always liked El Gordo and think it would be a great idea for the U.S. lotteries. The U.S. lotteries are currently working on a National game. Once we have a National game I believe El Gordo would be a great idea to introduce at Christmas. To do this it would take the approval of all lotteries. I know it has been mentioned and I will forward your idea to our Lottery Director. Thank you for writing us. We appreciate hearing from players. Laurie J Felch Online Products & Creative Services Manager

I was in Spain for Christmas and witnessed the success of the 'El Gordo' lottery. I also participated but did not win, but it was fun. The Spanish Christmas Lottery, known as 'El Gordo' in Spanish (or 'The Fat One'), has the biggest prize pool of any lottery in the world. It is a national lottery game organized every year since 1812. Because of the unique way El Gordo is played (the expensive tickets are broken down into 10 smaller tickets), it can be quite sociable to play the Spanish Christmas Lottery. I think such a lottery would be popular in the US at Christmas time, in addition to the usual lottery games. It would also raise additional revenue. State lotteries should consider introducing such a game, on a national level, for next Christmas. I would like other lottery players to write to their state lottery and recommend that US lotteries introduce a FAT ONE for next Christmas. MT: Thank you for your time, effort and research on the possible intro of a game like El Gordo to this country. After I read your feedback on this subject>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I've determined it aint gona happen in the G@@D OLE USA any time soon, although I WISH IT WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yours truly, PSYKOMO
