Being that I am a babe when it comes to things like this, I would like some input from those who have been playing at least a year. I need to know when it's probably time to let a cash 4 number or fantasy five number go and move on to new frontiers with "fresh" numbers. I need to learn patience in this area because if a number doesn't fall in 10 days or less, I am really ready to dump it. The thing is, I would hate to have dumped it on day 10 only to have it fall on day 11. LOL! Anyway, how long do YOU hold on to a number before ditching it?

Well, you can look at this 2 ways. You can continue to play your lucky #'s. yes, it's possible that one day they #'s will come up. Then again, you might change your #'s and THEN WIN, but then again maybe not. I you have 100% FAITH in your #'s, I say stick with them, sometimes winners win after 20 or 10 years of playing, so yes it can get discouraging. But it does happen.

There are two schools of thought regarding your question.
One says "Don't fall in love with your numbers."
The other says "Your numbers will come in the day you stop playing them."
That is the dichotomy that separates the yearning masses here at Lottery Post.
That, and the efficacy of Quick Picks vis-a-vis Player Picks. (Don't go there. For the love of GOD! Don't go there!) . I will not comply. I will never submit.

That, and the efficacy of Quick Picks vis-a-vis Player Picks. (Don't go there. For the love of GOD! Don't go there!) Thanks for the input gorgeous Martin and RightPrice. I must learn to be patient because patience pays off, but in the process I will play some fresh numbers along with the "hunches" to help me endure the long carry that might take place. Rdgrnr, you bring up some interesting things in your post...mainly, "Your numbers will come in the day you stop playing them." Oh gosh, why did you have to go and type that? This is one of my lottery fears. Yet, I don't want to carry a number around as a ball and chain either. But I have to admit, the longer I carry the number (in regards to Cash 4), the closer I come to winning...at least that's the way I see it. But then again, I don't want to carry it so long that by the time I win, I am simply breaking even or worse yet, not recovering all of my loss. It's the nature of the beast and I choose which road I will travel toward my goal of winning. Now about this QP issue vs those who pick their own numbers. I believe that one should mix them. Pick some and then let the computer pick some. After all, most of the big jackpots are QPs. I don't QP my Cash 4 numbers but I do QP some of my FL lotto and PB lotto tickets. What about you? Do you QP?

I don't normally play the Pick4, but in the Pick 3 the most I will play a number is 6 days. And thats only if I really feel good about it. Otherwise I pick new numbers for every draw, and yes they have come in a few days later or on the other drawing. That happens to everyone. BTW, a few years ago I fell in love with a Pick 4 number. I played it every day for 4 months and then gave up on it. And then it hit... 2 1/2 YEARS later!!! When looking for winning #'s, keep your mind open as well as your eyes.

Do you QP? Don't say that he didn't warn you about not going there with QP vs. your numbers. "QP's are for losers!" "Oh yeah? Well, QP's win 3/4 of the time!" "Oh yeah? That's because 75% of tickets are QP's, you idiot!" "Yeah, well, you're a big doody-head!" I'm with Ridge; they both have their place. Joyce, you brought up a good subject because it can be tough to consider that your numbers could come in just after the right time. I swear that I've seen winning numbers that I've said, "I know for a fact that I played those a few weeks ago" where you could have had most if not all of the numbers previously.

When PowerBall tickets were raised to $2, I said it was time to stop playing. Wednesday I decided to update my PB file even if I wasn't playing so if its jackpot ever reaches $500M I would have an updated file to use if I change my mind and decide to play again. Some how the file had got updated accidentally with the wrong numbers so I had a hunch I should play that combination so I corrected the file and made out a play slip to play those numbers. Fortunately all the lottery computers in town were down or I would have lost $2. I usually only play a hunch for one drawing. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

Say you hold a number for a year or months and it doesnt fall. Then when it does and you hit $80 you are pissed. So I try now to limit myself to 2 weeks that way I don't feel like I've spent too much on 1 number. Hope that helps.

Sometimes, when I am driving, a number will jump out at me whether it's someone's business address like 1017 Harlo Street. Then I add it to my list later for playing. Once I play it, if it doesn't fall then I have to wonder if it was an omen from God or was it just me. Then I play it for 10 more days and still nothing. All the while (as you mentioned) I am spending unnecessary money on all of these different numbers. I am not doing this for fun, I am doing this because I seek a divine blessing of money. Therefore, I have decided to cut back to a smaller budget and different strategy which will allow me (as the man with the beard said) not to fall in love with particular numbers. So if I let it go to my detriment in that it falls within days of my stop limit...so be it. There are other fish (numbers) in the sea.

I don't play every draw, which usually causes me to loose. We have remember another time another place. There is always tomorrow.

we have a delicious new option here now they bought new computers. its called top up, you can sellect only those numbers you feel good about, and the computer will randomly select the rest, so say you like 1 2 3 , the PC will fill out the other 3 numbers and if you strongly like 1 2 3 , mark it a dozen times, and the pc will quick pick the remaing choices. and it also makes theives job harder. as theres no way of knowing what numbers are marked ones and what are quick picks from the ticket. only the person who made the ticket out, would know the answer. mon/ lotto [27] 38 tue/oz lotto [] wed/ lotto [ ] thu / power ball[1.65] sat/ lotto [] sat /pools [18.30] keno [112] 66 scratchers [ ]
jan loss [171.90], profit 49.25 ; feb loss [ 125.90 ], profit 168.25 ; march loss [151.25] profit 4 ;april loss [250.90] profit 64
