Thats what I mean, I have known the clerks at the liquor store where I buy my tickets at for years, and they are pretty nice kids so I usually tip them a few dollars when I hit.

Hey guys - I was wondering if any of you tip the guy/girl who sells you a winning ticket? I do whenever I hit for a few dollars. Good for you. That question has been asked and answered many times over the years. Maybe it should be changed to "Do you ever win enough or often enough to ever consider tipping the clerks?" * The fundamentals of winning a lottery jackpot * * play a lottery you can win *

Good for you. That question has been asked and answered many times over the years. Maybe it should be changed to "Do you ever win enough or often enough to ever consider tipping the clerks?" Good point, RJ. It's not like all the losing tickets are magically erased with a modest win. But in the "space between" times when I've won marginally nice payouts (three digits) I sometimes give a courtesy tip. What would be nice is to hit a 6 or 7 digit ticket and then feel good about leaving a tip that could make a difference to the recipient. Especially the clerks that say "Good luck" in a genuine and friendly way.

Why not give a tip if the win is of significant value in your opinion ?......Sharing is always a good thing...... Karma, positive thoughts and actions have a way of recycling themselves. Paying it forward can't hurt..... Besides, some of us heathens need to do some good deeds. Jackpots...Just Average Citizens Keeping Possibilities Open Towards Security

Wow mitch that could be quite a tip. That is very interesting. Thats a really cool idea. I might have to try that. To answer the question yes I tip when I win unless the clerk is a real butt. Most of the stores I go in though im a regular so that does not happen much. I dont go back to stores when the clerks are rude.

IF I would win good money, I would. I always look at their name badge, so that I can remember them if I win big. However, I have yet to win anything big. If I win this big PB and I buy it at my local Kroger, I think I'll give ALL employees $1,000, but $13,000 to the one who sold me the big ticket. $13K is the most you can give someone without them having to pay taxes. Yeah, I'm nice like that. :-) "Don't be a schmuck, always take the cash." -Coin Toss

Tips. I guess it depends on the circumstance. I could only reference it as it applied to me. I had a job a while back working at the zoo. It was my duty to circumcise the elephants. It didn't pay much but the tips were huge. I'll never forget old whats-his-name...

If the clerk gives me a hot tip on a number and it hits, then yes. I look at it this way. They don't contribute to the cost, so why do they deserve money? The clerks don't give me a portion of the money back from the cost when I lose.
