I have seen many clerks having difficulty explaining to many longtime players that the price has gone up to $2.00. It can be very confusing.

I am leaning towards, " because they can".......you know, sorta like why does congress vote themselves a payraise no matter what the economy is like ?.....Because they can Jackpots...Just Average Citizens Keeping Possibilities Open Towards Security

Never asked this until now. Why has the price for Powerball tickets gone up from a dollar to two bucks now? Just go on the PB website and you can learn what the reason is. If $2 a draw is just too much to handle, then just play once a week instead of twice a week. Time will tell if it was a good move or not. Whoever eventually wins the jackpot will most definitely think it was a good move. CAN'T WIN IF YOU'RE NOT IN A DOLLAR AND A DREAM (OR $2)

For a $1 more per ticket: 1. The game will start at 40 million after a hit 2. an 0+1 hit will pay $4 instead of $3 3. a 5+0 hit will pay $1 million instead of $200,000. (they eliminated the kicker) In 2011 there were approx. 546 - 5+0 winners. "Everybody has to believe in something...I believe I'll have another beer!" = W.C.Fields

truck drivers pay higher diesel prices to deliver lumber , and passed that cost to the lumber owners who jacked up the price of paper, thus the lottery officials had to payer higher prices for paper, and you end up eating the cost.

Early indicators are there won't be as many winners in 2012 unless the same number of tickets as in 2011 are sold. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

In 2011 there were approx. 546 - 5+0 winners. Early indicators are there won't be as many winners in 2012 unless the same number of tickets as in 2011 are sold. If the same number of tickets are sold, there should be 273 5+0 winners because the odds are still the same, but each ticket now will be worth $1 million. The ads are saying "bigger jackpots with more millionaires" which is true because without winning the jackpot, we couldn't win $1 million on a $1 ticket. While 546 5+0 winners seems like a lot, when you look at the odds against, it's only 0.000019% of all the tickets sold.
