I figured out a way to quicky update any Pick 3 or Pick 4 database for an old program called Lightning Bolt 99. I beleive the software goes back to 1999. Not sure when it became "abandonware". None of the update links work anymore. I created 2 Excel files using Excel 2002. One for Pick 3 and one for Pick 4. Here are the download links to the zip files: Pick 3 Excel file download http://www.box.com/s/moom12lxyuft7xyunhgo Pick 4 Excel file download http://www.box.com/s/zh9nk9ziobg11tjnvs4j The way I created the "db' (database) files is using Excel 2002 and Access 2002. If you have both of these great, or if you have Excel 2007 and Access 2007, I beleive this will work also. This will NOT work using Access 2010. If you are a registered user of Lightning Bolt 99 and would like a free "db" (database) file for your state let me know and I will create one FREE of charge. This is the text file (.txt) file I created using Excel 2002 and the .db (database) file using Access 2002 (paradox 3) http://www.box.com/s/xvz5jm7cffpq7i1m8ihg Text File for Arizona Pick 3 Evening Drawing using Excel 2002 http://www.box.com/s/nzj6u9kt2mz896annudu .db (Database) File using Access 2002 for Arizona Pick 3 Evening drawings Here is the link to the video on how to create both files using Excel and Access: http://www.screencast.com/t/aiSdyaaxv9X I would like to know if anyone recalls if there was a maximum number of drawings that Lightning Bolt 99 can use. In addition, I would also like to mention that since I installed Lightning Bolt 99 in Windows 7 C: drive and NOT the Programs default folder. I ran into "access denied" pop-ups using Lightning Bolt 99. The fix for this is following the instructions in the following pdf's. These are actual instructions from Microsoft that I followed. http://www.box.com/s/ux0x30bcn7nkuqp9652b Vista Users http://www.box.com/s/lp8a4hpkt5zdy77g98o1 Window 7 If you are running Windows 7 / 64 Bit Lighning Bolt 99 will NOT work. I would be interested in any Strategies or tips using Lightning Bolt 99. Thanks!!

I don't remember how many past draws it uses. When I tried it long ago, it didn't seem to be that good at making predictions, but maybe I didn't keep on trying it long enough to see if it would make a profit or not, in the short run it didn't predict good enough for me back then. I only tried the pick 3 portion of it. It does give some stats, I don't remember much about them.

At least with the Excel file and Access I can back test easier by using a range of draws. Maybe use a range 126 past draws for example. So in cell D4 I would enter 21 and E4 = 146. Then create a new textfile and database. Or just delete 20 draws from LTB99. At least now it won't be time consuming entering each drawing 1 at a time when you have a slew of drawings to update.

The program itself has an option for doing some back-testing on the ways that it makes predictions and it shows how it would do with each of them.

Yes, I am looking at the program right now. Ranking shows the 10 strategies It shows how many bets each produces and how many box and straight wins each made backtesting on a past range of draws. While # 1 and 2 seems to produce more box and straight wins, they also produce more bets. A person perhaps should only look at the straight wins and forget about the boxed wins. This way you could perhaps try strategy # 8 or some other one instead of # 1 or # 2. ---------------------- The stats might also be of use.

It might do better with some states than with others and also at times for a particular state might do better or worse than at other times, that is it might not always do the same.

If you filter any of the numbers on a bet a person might not get the wins that are shown on the ranking.

I tried OpenOffice Base but it will not export the Table to the correct .db (database). Matter of fact, OO Base will not even export a table at all. I tried Google search with the same question. Access 2010 no longer supports Paradox from what I read. Maybe someone here at LP might suggest a FREE text to paradox (.db) program to use. I found a program called Data Quick 6.6 but it is "buggy".

For example 202 games-past draws checked Strategy # 1, 71 bets X 202 = $14, 342 spent 19 Straight wins x 500 = $9, 500 won. $14, 342 - $9,500 = $4,842 Lost ------------------------

Strategy # 8 200 X 8 = $1,616 spent 6 Straight wins = $500 X 6 = $3, 000 $1,384 Profit!
