I do not like house dreams. I have them several times a year. And like you, they leave me frustrated,  the houses depending on the condition can leave a clue. Are they new, needs fixing, or broken down and neglected. 

House is yourself at times in dreams. It could be your health needs attention. Or you need to rebuild or re-vented yourself in some level. Change a habit or delete a relationship with something or someone.

You mention nest. Mothers nest their young up high and then let them go to fly..

What is nesting in you that you want to fly away with or let fly away?

The houses I visit are not always in disarray.  I almost always feel a sensation of not wanting to stay.  Many times people are going in and out - yes, random people

My house dreams are the most VIVID of all. 
..a sense of dissatisfaction and on occassion, having been there before,

The people to me represent the body's network. Like our cells communicating with each other to keeps us going. They are keeping all body organs well. IF that is what the people are meaning in the dream.

But, if not then what? The random people in my house dreams seem almost to never see me. When one or two see me, they do not give me much attention.  The house in my dreams are never the same. Some are grand and beautiful , and others are sad flip houses. They are never houses that are from my past and so far,  houses I have not seen. In my dreams I do not want to live there or it become my home and worrying starts to come as a feeling in the dream. Its funny because I feel like I have been there before too. The people are mostly from the an era of years past and not of this current modern times. It is rarely a family member or someone in connection with me in the house. 

You gave this dream a title the nest..for a reason. Give it a second to make sense to you.
