"how the Hell are gonna spend that much money?" That is the kinda problem I want to have. I am tired of the problems I have now and want to trade them in for these 'harder' problems.

As a former pilot, I would be looking to pick up the world's most exclusive business jet, the Gulf Steam V. That's about $40 million, not including, fuel, maintenance, insurance, hanger and storage costs, which could easily run another couple million a year. Homes all over the country, east, west coast, Colorado, Hawaii. Probably another $30-40 million. Of course without question all immediate family taken care of, $40-50 million. All my dream vehicles, and latest toy's, another $8-10 million. full time house keepers, chef, personal assistant and financial advisor (that would be my sister who is a genius in that field!). That should about cover it. Oh and cannot forget Jill from LP! we had an agreement (not without some whining from a certain LP'er who resented this idea ), that I would give her $250K if the Jackpot didn't exceed $600 million. If she should win this 2-nite, that is her agreement with me as well! Thanks Jill, your awesome.

The same as I'd spend any other amount: paying off any debts, condo in NY (really like 101 Warren), furnishings and tech toys (new laptop, two PCs... one for gaming the other for video editing, home entertainment system, etc.). Of course there'd be other small expenses but those are the big ones. Of course, I'd also first split up with money with family. I just can't see myself ever needing so much, vehicles I want are under $50,000 and even though I'd be buying in NYC I wouldn't be spending anything over $5m and likely under $2m.

It has always been my dream to solves problems that cant be solved with money alone, such as providing hot and cold running water and a sanitary system for a undeveloped nation. Or on a smaller scale, ridding NY city of its rat problem. Or maybe I would just call the exterminator to get rid of these <snip> coach roaches and call it a day. After that I would move in next door to Tiger Woods, and make sure my boat is better than his. I'd get my video game script developed into an entire video game series. Spin it off into a TV series and possibly a movie. Would also bring back some cancelled TV series.
Cars and houses is a given.

To get half a billion to spend we'll need a jackpot with a cash value of about $840 million. Considering the one drawing $652 million in ticket sales that helped to produce the about $470 cash value of the record MM jackpot that cash value may prove to be as high as it can get. That being said it's still fun to discuss spending a quarter billion or even $40 million. With the big bucks in my bank account I would look to buy and create businesses that employ lots of people. The reason some businesses have gone under is they don't make enough profits where a $1 a year in profits would be fine for me. Besides if someone feels they can turn a larger profit, I'll sell it for a nice profit. And no, I won't be running those companies, I'll be doing many of the things other posters have suggested.
