THE LOTTERY IS A ZERO-SUM GAME. No lottery player can WIN without another lottery player LOSING .

MEGA MILLIONS and POWERBALL are drawn twice a week. Playing every MM and PB drawing will cost you $2 and $4 weekly.

How about spending (2*52 Weeks) $104 on MM and (4*52Weeks) $208 on PB on one drawing yearly?

I know, you like to have at least 1 ticket in every draw. It makes sense to play more when the jackpot is high. You got to have 1 ticket in play to always be dreaming.

"How many times do you dream about winning? Do you have to win every week to be happy? Of course not. You only have to win once. So you only have to play the lottery, at some time in the future to be able to legitimately dream of winning a huge lottery jackpot."

Don't think any "wealth" is generated in any "lottery system" or gambling system but wealth is generated in the infrastructure built to support it . Las Vegas comes to mind, horse racing and tracks, and all the casinos operated by Native Americans in northern Wisconsin are ways wealth is made from gambling.

For the most part, think it's just an exchange of money...... but fun.

How is wealth generated?? Believe whenever something is created that sells for more money than it took to make it, wealth is generated. The wealth didn't exist before, but exists after the sale. Manufacturing is not a zero sum game.

3 lottery buyers won the $646M Jackpot but an estimated 100Million players lost!

Lottery players spent nearly $1.5B chasing the world's biggest lottery jackpot. There were only 3 winning tickets. I see something wrong with those results. Don't you?

I feel that $1.5B spent to win $646M is a very bad bet. Oh, I forgot the lottery pays the winners with the losers money. Zero-Sum Game?

The lottery is the real winner at the end of game play.

Some savvy people on LotteryPost can predict 2 MM hits in a pool of 12, just about every week, but what good will that info do ya? I bet the same savvy people can predict 3-4 MM hits in a pool of 14-16..... and now something good can be done with that info and think this helps support your "shot gun" theory.

What do you, and other LPers, think of buying 13 tickets generated by an Abbrev. 3if5 of 15 wheel? Purchase the tickets and get at least $7 back. Don't know what the odds of hitting 4 of 5 is with those tickets.

Sounds like it may pay to do the homework.

I get your point, there are participants that can benefit a great deal in any zero-sum game by studying the game( for example the stock market). You are betting against chance when it comes to the lottery. It happens to be that 70% to 80% of winners have won with Quick Picks.

That is correct you can beat any zero-sum game with discipline.

Slow and Steady wins the race. Time is Money, it is crazy to play the lottery on a weekly basis and not winning. I do not like the advance play feature or lottery subscriptions. Saving lottery lines for a shotgun style gives you better results. It is a matter of Winning or Losing no matter how many tickets we buy.

If not from the losers who play the game, where do think the money for the winners should come from?

If the states couldn't make money running these games, what other reasons would they have?

If players didn't get some enjoyment out of playing these games, why would they continue paying to lose?

If everyone who participate in these games didn't get something, they wouldn't exist.

I don't play PB now, I haven't played since its price went up to $2 and when I participated in Ohio lottery website survey on customer response to the $2 price, I mentioned that. If it's jackpot ever reaches $300M+, I'll probably play it again.

As to your suggestion about a lottery budget I don't spend enough to need one. I would no more have a budget for lottery than I would have a budget for chewing gum and soda pop, when I feel like buying tickets, I buy them if I have the money and if I didn't I wouldn't worry about it.
