Do some number combinations have better odds?

I just can't see myself playing every single drawing, although I see players that play a single line quick pick regardless of the jackpot size, and they have won big. I see it like playing the lottery like a lab rat.

I see myself winning any jackpot over $40 millions. It will allow me to retire in a big way. Some of us love to dream BIG.

It looks like you're still assuming because it says "one ticket was sold with all the winning numbers" it means the winner only purchased one ticket. Unless the winner specifies at the press conference they only bought one ticket, for all we know, they could have bought hundreds.

By finding a group of 33 numbers that consistently matches all five numbers, the total number of combos is reduced by 94%. Playing all 237,336 combos is probably not a good playing strategy, but if you could create a consistent subgroup of 15 numbers using all of them in four or five number combos, the play would be a more realistic 27,573 combos. And that's pretty close to the 1 in 10 ratio you're looking for. Using a 15 number subgroup of 28 numbers with four or five of those numbers in each combo reduces that cost of play to $20,748. 

I believe you're on the right track; you find a consistent group of 33 or 28 numbers that matches all five numbers and I'll show you how it can be played at a profit without wheeling all the combos.

I follow your thinking Stack47, and I agree with you. However there is no way to come up with a subgroup having 5 of 5 from a group that dosnt contain 5 of 5 to start with.

The best I can consistently give you 5 of 5 in, would be 41 and maybe push to 39.

If you can somehow condense the larger groups and still hit 5 of 5, its worth a try. 

You guys do not focus on the cost of playing the lottery, every combination has a dollar value to it.

Yes THRIFTY, we are not focused on the cost. It may be hard to understand but some people will buy $98,280 worth of tickets for a good chance at $250,000.

          Your 10th in line,   and your the only one in line,  that knows anything about picking lottery numbers

whether    it's birthday numbers...........your  1 lucky set .........or you've done a little research  to come up with a number or two

                                      the other 9 people  are just getting  Q-picks

Now you're going to have to do more than talk the most to make anyone believe that.  How do you explain the MM jackpot exceeding $640 in April and a couple of computer programmers and a multi-millionaire having two of the three winning tickets?

The $640M Mega Millions Jackpot was won with Quick Pick Tickets. Type the names of the 3 winners and you will see that the winning tickets were all quick picks. I posted one of the winning tickets in one of my threads.

I typed in several names and got nothing, that proves the question is still opened.

That's tougher than it sounds.  Since MM has 744 drawing since its last matrix change you'll need to find 28 numbers that have matched five 75 times since that change.  Taking the top 28 numbers only get you 42.
