Hello, what is the difference between patterns and filters a lottery?

A filter will eliminate a specific number (or numbers).  A pattern tells you what that "certain" number (or numbers) should be.

Patterns can be positions on a chart where winning numbers trend to fall.  For example, you have some sort of lottery software that "predicts" with numbers ranked from more to least likely to be drawn based on the prediction algorithm.  While the software may be totally worthless never getting more then two winning numbers among the top six (which change after almost every draw) you may notice the software sometimes gets four winning numbers among the top 24 and 1 or 2 among the final six predicted.  That would be a pattern you can work with. 

Some might call a wheel a matrix or pattern.
