I have been hard at work these past few weeks putting together the 2012 editions of the Lottery Results Almanac series. It is an incredibly massive chunk of work that needs to be crammed into the first few weeks of each year, because the book can't be assembled until all the results from the past year have been drawn. Each year there are more than 80,000 different lottery drawings, so there is a mind-bending amount of verification that all the results are there ... and accurate. There are lots of notes to make in the book for games that start or end during the year. Probably the most tedious part is all the indexing (page numbers) for each game — in both the table of contents as well as on each state's main page. And making sure the formatting is perfect on every page, etc., etc. My eyes really start to hurt. Then, once the US edition is complete, I need to do it all over again for the Canada edition. So now I'm nearing completion, doing the final tweaking on everything to get it just right, and awaiting the assignment of the Library of Congress number. The target publication date is January 29. I think I should be able to make it! As always, people looking to get a copy on the day it comes out will be able to order it directly from the publisher's Web site. (There will be a news announcement on the first day it is available, along with a link to the order page.) Then, it will go on sale on Amazon.com perhaps a week or two later, depending on how fast they update their catalog. This is the fourth year since I started publishing the almanac series, so that makes a total of 8 books. It's an absolute ton of work, but after the work is finished every year, it's very satisfying to have a growing library of "gold standard" lottery results volumes to refer back to.

What do members do with these books? How do you use them It's a hard copy reference to identify trends and patterns from year to year. The tool I currently use is published monthly and it gives me little time to get ahead of developing trends. Having the year all in one resource that I can leverage without staring at a screen all day would go a long way. P.S. That's how it would support my current pick 3 system.
