There are 2 scenarios for these doubled numbers #1 dumb luck for them (or) # 2 there randomize system just don't work worth shi# or #3 and I might be stretching it a bit but Maybe It is a way of letting the winner know when to play and what to play, but only they know how it is done.We would have to have proof they do that and there is no way unless someone comes forward. Im not saying its rigged per say and maybe its just an on going pattern. DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION.There's only one conculsion. Have you ever checked the matrix and seen how many times each value appears in each position? Looking at P5, the very next draw, I would have started playing for the previous value to repeat. Those are called patterns and patterns repeat.

Maybe its just me but see if you can see anything unusual occuring in Powerball?
Something strange double on numbers before win, this is only for 2 years but the doubling goes on to 1992

DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION.Our conclusion on this observation is Powerball is operating within acceptable probabilities.
We ran a 100,000 samples to see what are the percentages of getting the observations you are seeing, based on a Pick 5 of 59 matrix only; since that is where the most matching (doubling) seems to be occurring.
100,000 Samples Data on a Pick 5 of 59 Quantity of Matching Same Number in the Same Column Count Percentage 0 83257 83.257% 1 15418 15.418% 2 1282 1.282% 3 43 0.043% 4 0 0.000% 5 0 0.000%
We also did an analysis of Powerball draw dates from 2009-01-07 to the Present to see the expanded distribution of these observations, a total of 430 draws as of 2013-02-22.
Keep in mind, going further back in draw dates has a different set of probabilities because the Pick 5 pool is different and drawing any conclusion on those selections must be based on their individual pool sizes.
Actual Observations Quantity of Matching Same Number in the Same Column Count Percentage 0 357 83.023% 1 68 15.814% 2 4 0.930% 3 1 0.233% 4 0 0.000% 5 0 0.000%
Given we know the percentages based on the 100,000 sample observations we can approximate the distribution of the 430 draws and see how close they match in value and percentage.
Approximate Observations Based on Sample Data Quantity of Matching Same Number in the Same Column Count Percentage 0 358 83.257% 1 66 15.418% 2 6 1.282% 3 0 0.043% 4 0 0.000% 5 0 0.000% The One Over None

The Best proof that the lottery is rigged is when 911 came out in NY NUMBERS on the 1st anniversary of the tragedy.
For sure. When something with odds of 1 in 1000 happens in a game where the odds of the outcome that happens is always 1 in 1000 it's definitely absolute proof that the result wasn't simply a 1 in 1000 chance event.

Good post. I agree, with one exception...
"It's highly unlikely any MM or PB player will randomly purchase a QP randomly selected by lottery terminal and match the same six numbers randomly drawn using a live ball drawing, but it happens several times every year."
Sorry, but it happens a lot more than "several times" every year. It happens in the majority of the draws.
--Jimmy4164
In a typical year there are 104 PB drawings and 104 MM drawings. Can you offer a list of the years in which there have been at least 52 drawings with a jackpot winner for either game?

You're right to call me on that statement Floyd. I forgot, a jackpot is not won with every draw. The point I was trying to make was based on the generally accepted statistics that approximately 70% of ticket purchases are Quick Picksand approximately 70% of the winners are also Quick Pick holders.

Scientistman,
I didn't ask that question, grwurston did. Take my link above for the answer.

I read it 3 times, because I figured one of us was missing or misreading something. I've got a recent comment on the 70% QP thing in the News forum thread about the (bad) statistician.

we ran it out on Excel 2007 using our CombinatorialIndex.xls file to generate the combinations.
if there were some kind of rigging going on or not, we should be able to use it against them.
this is why we have moved away from traditional statistics and moved in to modern dynamics.

If you think this is something, you should see SC lottery results...they have paired numbers A LOT!!!!!!! Some months, I think over 50 percent of their draws are paired numbers... It still doesn't keep me from playing though, because I"m GONNA WIN IT! hehehe

Guess what happened? 701 hit mid 2/22 and just hit again as 071 mid 2/23 in Md.

The odds of that happening are 1 in 167. And it probably happens a few times a year, which is exactly what the odds would predict. So, to me that would indicate that the lottery is not rigged -- it would certainly not indicate that it is rigged in any way. It is SUPPOSED to happen a few times per year. (According to the odds, it should happen 2-3 times midday and 2-3 times evening every year in Maryland.)

Those are the same people in my lottery pool!? Wtf? What are the odds of that. Must be rigged somehow!
