Is it fine to buy from the same roll that someone else ( a chaser ) is playing on? I have seen others, ask permission from the chaser or offer to split the cost of the next tix. I have also seen others just get the next one from the roll without regard to the chaser and win, frustrating the chaser. I have not seen anybody fight on this though.

What do you think? Do you think the chaser is entitled to recoup his losses or do you see an opportunity to win?

If I see someone buy a series of tickets in a row and then leave, I generally play after them. However, if I walk into a place and there's someone there playing like crazy and I can see they have a bunch of discarded tickets along with active tickets--I'm generally out! First off, I feel like I'm on someone else's turf, secondly, who knows what they've already hit but just kept playing!?!? So I generally move along if I see someone really going at it. Now, if they buy a bunch in a row and just walk out without scratching, for instance, I usually can't resist and I'll try a couple. If I lose, I wonder if they hit. If I hit I kind of get that devilish grin and say to myself "Sucker!" Haha!

I usually gtfo when someone else is playing a lot and go somewhere else

I beleive all is fair game, just be wise, and use the golden rule. If I can tell they are chasing a certain game i won't touch it. I've tried to talk to fellow scratchers in my area and the chasers are usually rude. (probably out of frustration)

I only play when we go to Texas and the store's that we go to there seems to be a couple of chasers. Since we don't live there hubby & I just buy what we planned on getting. I don't like to scratch in the store so hubby & go to the car.

Last Sunday, I had to go out of town and did not get to play the scratchers. A care-giver looking after a neighbor won $1K on the $3 Cash-Line game. I won $500 on the same game, 2 weeks ago.

Darn, I hate missing the action and a winner!

I think it's rude for anyone to stand in the way of others in line if they aren't buying something, even chasers. I usually just say "excuse me" and go around them and buy what ever I want, even a ticket off the same roll.

* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

If you consider that Scratch games are a competitive game, then yes, it's OK to buy from the same roll someone else is playing. You're both competing for the same wins in the roll, and sometimes your opponent is the also clerk! You win, they lose. They win, you lose. Some people might get pissed off, but hey, what can they do, its the only machine or bin in the store, and they cannot hog the machine and hold up the line.

It's kinda like jumping in on someone's slot machine at the casino when they go to the restroom. You can do it, but they might get pissed off. But all's fair... Especially if you buy a bunch like 4 to 8 and then leave, never letting them know what you walked away with. That'll really drive 'em nuts!

But generally, I'm not that confrontational. I agree with James: If you see someone playing heavy with a stack of the same game you were going to play, don't buy that game, or go somewhere else, or come back another time. That game is likely to be more depleted of wins if you play around the time he's playing. You might think you can snag a win in the middle of his run, but the odds are against you.

I generally do not do this. I think it's bad juju.

However if they are done and leave I will sometimes pick up where they left off but I hate to think they already won a decent amount and kept playing like someone else said.

I sort of had this opportunity yesterday but the guy went back to his truck. I bough my pb and mm tix, looked at the roll he played but decided not to buy, specifically since I thought 'yeah he probly got the big winner already'.
The fact that it was a $25 ticket helped ensure I moved out quickly without a 2nd thought :)
