Yeah the jackpot take so long to grow. I think the highest it ever got was 14 million back in March 2012 I believe. I loved Megabucks before it was hit. It was the best jackpot game to play for the odds. The ticket was purchased in the same town as the last time it was won also. I think it stays at $500,000 for so long is because probably barely anyone is playing it when it is at the starting jackpot. I know I don't play it when it's at $500,000. I wait until its at least $1,000,000 to start playing.

I've been looking at the Mass Lottery's website and I can see the Jackpot history for Mass Megabucks Doubler.
The recent JP of 4.8 million started building last September.
It seems like the JP gets hit every 4 or 5 months, but I don't understand why when it does get hit, it stays at $500,000 for three or four drawings before it starts growing... Looks like the highest the JP ever got was 6 million, and then somebody hit it. G5
G5 ... I just now noticed your post from earlier ... thanks for the MB Doubler information. It looks like your NY Lotto ticket that you just renewed is still a good bet ... you have the higher jackpot to go after.
Genome ... thanks also for the MB Doubler information. People with a subscription are stuck with the new lower jackpot. I only signed up for three months ... I'll call that a test run ... I was planning to renew in June for six months to get to November for the Holiday Special. I will probably not renew till November and allow the jackpot to build up till then.
G5 ... you are right ... the jackpot is still $500,000 for Wed ... the same as last night ... not even a $5,000 or $10,000 increase! In PA the jackpot increases by at least $50,000 when starting again at $500,000. Maybe I will be happy with the PA 6/49 game afterall ... it does get to a million dollars a little faster, if it doesn't get hit.
As you said Genome, people probably don't play much till it gets close to $1 million.
Perhaps a better way to play the Megabucks Doubler is not to sign up for a year but to renew in three month increments ... that way if the jackpot does get hit then a person can skip three or six months to let the jackpot build up.
You lose the discount savings but you make up for it by not buying tickets when the jackpot is low ... a person would probably come out ahead that way in the end.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. MMD is a 6/49 game carrying almost 14 million to 1 odds (very difficult odds) and all The Mass Lottery will pay out is $500,000 if the jackpot is hit early on? And the winner wouldn't even get $500,000 after taxes! That's the reason why players in Mass won't play the game until the jackpot gets big.
Although I don't live in The State of Massachusetts, my question is what were Mass Lottery Officials thinking when they set up this game? Did Mass Lottery Officials not consider that players would react to it as they have? I don't understand why most state lotteries do not give lottery players they credit they deserve for being as savvy as they obviously are!
Mass is not alone when it comes to putting out games that bomb because players see the ridiculousness of them and refuse to buy/play the game.
I guess you've probably figured out that I decided to pass on a Mass Megabucks Doubler subscription. While it isn't likely I'd hit a jackpot whether it was big or small, I wouldn't want to hit one while it was at $500,000. Of course I'd be glad if I was lucky enough to win one even if it was $500,000, but I don't want any nagging thoughts rolling around in my head like "Wow! I wish I'd have won it when it was bigger...." And there's this too, I live an hour's drive from Mass. If I really want a ticket because the jackpot is big, I can get one fairly easy enough. G5

G5 ... This is one very strange game ... tonight (Sat) will be the third drawing since the jackpot was hit and the the jackpot is still $500,000 ... they have not added $1 to the pot. I would think they could of added at least $5,000 after each drawing.
I know that sales are probably slow with the new low jackpot but they should be able to add $5,000 or something to the jackpot after every draw. As I said earlier, PA is all cash and they add $50,000 after every draw and then $100,000 or more later on. I don't expect the MA Lottery to do that but add at least something ... $1,000 ... $2,000 ... something.
Also G5 ... you would not win $500,000 if you hit ... that is the annuity jackpot ... I am thinking you would want the cash option which is $360,000 and then minus taxes, which is hardly worth fooling around for.
My thoughts are to wait a year or two till the jackpot builds up again and then play with three month subscription increments ... then if it gets hit again a person can wait another year or two and start to play again.
My luck of the draw ... I get tickets on a Monday and two days later the jackpot amount is gone ... but it's only a three month subscription ... but if they don't start adding some money to the pot, then it looks like I will be playing for only $360,000 the whole three months.
The game however, may still be a way for someone to play the lottery if they live in a state that has no lottery and it's too far to drive to a neighboring state for lottery tickets.
Just to add, the real hot 6/49 game is currently in Wisconsin ... Megabucks ... but they don't do "out of state" tickets but maybe I'm hopefully wrong !!!

$18.5 Million Annuity
$13.2 MILLION Cash
CW
You're right CW, I would take the cash option. (I didn't know 500K is the annuity option)
You just gave me another reason why I'm not interested in buying a season ticket.

This game's pace of growing is horrible when the jackpot resets. It takes almost 2 months to reach $1M (annuity )

CW, looks like it went up a little jackpot is $528,456 as of 03/25/2015.
I haven't posted anything about the game since I didn't think anyone was much interested. I have been following the game since the jackpot was hit in early March ... it went five drawings and stayed at $500,000 ($360,000 cash) and then for last night ... Wed Mar 25 the jackpot was raised to $600,000 ($460,000 cash) and for Sat Mar 28 the jackpot annunity amount is still $600,000 but the cash option went up $30,000 ... it will be $490,000 cash for Saturday.
So the annunity didn't change but they added more to the cash amount ... one very strange game.
After those five drawings where the annunity and cash amounts stayed at $500,000 and $360,000 and then each was increased $100,000 ... I guess you could say each drawing went up $20,000 but they didn't add any money for 2 1/2 weeks.
Now they don't change the $600,000 annunity jackpot for Saturday but they do add money to the cash jackpot ... this is one strange game indeed ... but I'm only interested in the cash part anyway, so at least that went up.
