  It happened to me about 3 years ago while scratching Florida's $200 million Spectacular. It was night and I had a couple beers. I then pulled out around a dozen $200MS and started scratching. The light was dim in the room and some of the ticket numbers were blurry. Anyway I got a couple $20's and $40 - the rest were duds and I threw the tickets in the garbage can and went to bed. The next morning was garbage pick up day so I got the bags outside ready for pickup. I thought why not recheck the tickets from last night ? The beer didn't help me focus :) So I yanked out the dozen tickets from a garbage bag - some were covered with coffee grinds and junk but 4 were clean. I looked through the four and they were all losers. But I did notice one ticket still had #8 to scratch - so I casually scratched it with my fingernail  and under it was $5000 !!!

  I've learned to double and triple check tickets before tossing them in the can. I wonder how many wins I threw away over the past over 20 years ??

  If you ever get a ticket and it won't scratch, don't put it in a microwave because it might spark and catch on fire. It only took seconds to do this and there was a bunch of us laughing until i revealed the bottom.
