In light of the fact the Olgc is tracking complaints, I thought I'd bring these two previous posts forward:
Contact OLGCinfo@OLGC.ca daily to vent your displeasure. Call 1-888-230-3505 , the gamblers hotline and voice your displeasure,...you can be sure they are keeping tabs on complaints for the OLGC....The masses must speak out... The squeaky wheel gets the grease, no pun intended
Everyone must make a point of sending off letters as such to the OLGC .....Profanity is useless ..... Keep your letters short and to the point . Tell your friends , coworkers, email contacts, any one you see buy a ticket at the variety store , to contact the OLGC and vent at them. Make them earn their salaries. They were sure this increase was a given and now the anger is rising to a point they have to throw in a bonus draw to generate interest. Local radio shows are getting a lot of flack from listeners who are irate.
I challenge everyone who is contributor or a lurker in this forum to take the time and vent repeatedly at the OLGC.....Spread the word....... And one other point to consider, even if you don't play or have the opportunity to play 649, send off a complaint to the Olgc concerning the increase. This is your way of protecting your own state , provincial , or national lottery. All eyes in the lottery world are watching the dvents unfold with our 649 to determine whether they should increase the lottery YOU play. Protect your game , send that complaint NOW ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Note: the above is a copy of posts from a Canadian lottery forum by member Karnac, concerning the recent doubling of ticket cost from $1 to $2 OLGC is the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and they do reply to and keep track of the number of complaints, we think that so far this office alone has received more than 58,000 gripes. Another office to send complaints to is: The Interprovincial Lottery Corp.

Shlep, I do not want to discourage your campaign to complain about the new price, but I think that the only thing the lottery corporations will pay attention to is sales. If sales go down, then they will get rid of or change the $2 ticket price. If sales go up or stay level, then nothing will change. Sales speak louder than complaints. This is why the original 649 game was changed. Sales were going down year after year. They had to do something. One option was to reduce the guaranteed minimum jackpots but that would have encouraged even lower sales. Complain away but do not expect a change unless sales change. So far, sales have increased but time will tell. Just to let you know where I stand, I also disagree with the new price. I plan to buy fewer tickets. In fact I will probably never buy tickets for just myself. I plan to only buy tickets as part of an office pool. Good luck, Jake649

I agree with Jake, sales speak louder than any group because the job of lottery commissions is to sell tickets. Years ago, when the religious right could not convince Ohio to get rid of their biggest lottery game, they convince them to limit the payout to $20M per winning ticket regardless of the jackpot size. The State tried it for about six months until the decline of ticket sales forced them to go back to the original format. They never recovered from that mistake because my of the players were from the surrounding states and doing that time those States improved their games and added PowerBall and the rest is history. Yes, you're correct. But did you know it wasn't a 'planned' bonus draw? The info I read points to an ad-hoc bonus to generate more interest, which I gather wasn't as high as hoped in the previous draw. See here (by Karnac): Last night's 649 draw marked to the day the 22nd anniversary of the game, however I can't recall any mention of this fact last week in their advertising , other than there would be a couple of bonus draws, the second of which was a surprise to many. Look at these numbers; April 16 Super 7 ... 25 million jackpot ... Ticket Sales 48.7 million June 12 649 .........25 million jackpot ... Ticket sales 33.6 million Thats a drop of almost 15 million dollars...And those full page ads for the new 649 at $10000 a pop aren't helping. I hope they're dirtyin their drawers over this fiasco. Well when I am up in Windsor I usually play two lotto lines with ten encore lines. I like to call the changing of all these games and leaving the payback percentage ( the only thing that matters) smoke and mirrors.

Something else to consider, for those who are interested. If I read the figures correctly then 51.4% of draws revenue goes to the prizes. Normally the sales for each draw would generate about $10-12M with the starting Jackpot of $2M. So one can see that normal take for the Lotto Corp used to be about $5-6M, higher when Jackpots rolled over, much higher for bonus draws such as the $25M yesterday. How much did they take in? Just over $2M for a $25M bonus draw!! if at first you don't succeed ... destroy all evidence you ever tried

Two minor corrections: #1. from Karnac Have to make this correction before this appears in the media. The OLGC paid out $31,319,211.80. I was out by about 127.00 which is simply lunch money at the OLGC. These figures are from the Sympatico website. The masses are listening.... a Wednesday boycott would really shock and awe the shirts at the OLGC. Sales customarily drop during the summer and summer arrives officially next Monday. I wish I was a fly on the wall in that office tomorrow morning. I really think there is more pressure than we realize. Any OLGC whistle blowers want to contribute to this forum , step up to the plate. Boycott Wednesday's draw. Send a strong message Correction #2: Lottario tickets can only be purchased for $1.00 (minimum) for 2 plays. A selection of own numbers for 1 line will have 1 QuickPick added at the terminal. Please see Lottario, How to Play: http://lotteries.olgc.ca/consumer_hp_lottario.jsp?game=lottario&flag=null if at first you don't succeed ... destroy all evidence you ever tried
