How would everyone like to help develop a system in progress?
I call this one the SoniQ BOOM system, excruciating detail on development is in my blog, but in a nutshell...
take 2 draws (examples)
12/1/2005 6-7-2
12/2/2005 8-1-1
the first draw is the PRECURSOR draw, the second one is just the draw.
vertical pairs are created by position
Position 1 = 6-8
Position 2 = 7-1
Position 3 = 2-1
for position 1, we look back in the entire game history to count how many times each of the digits 0-9 followed a 6-8 "vertical pair
example
0=14
1=2
3=11
4=15
5=13
6=9
7=10
8=10
9=12
picking the most frequent, the pick for the first position the next draw is 4 (15 matches after a 6-8)
this is done for each position... the numbers that have followd the pairs in history are ANNOUNCERS. (If my terminology is off, so be it, that's how I understand the terms for now, corrections can be made later ;-) )
I have the excel backtest files available for viewing/toying with/development at my website (see signature or click http://home.comcast.net/~hypersoniq and look for sb3.xls and sb4.xls)
these are REFERENCE files, to save space the formulas have been stripped (except the last row, so you can see how I did it and can modify for your own state, if you don't mind LONG recalc times)
warning to dial-up users: sb3.xls = 5.49MB and sb4.xls = 5.57MB
right now it is for the PA pick3 and pick 4 EVENING ONLY, and the backtest was only for straight hits since it is a positional system.
NOT DONE YET, but on the right track...
sb3 matched 64 straight hits in 28 years (32k profit, see blog for breakdown)
sb4 matched 11 straight hits in 25 years (40+k profit)
This is an OPEN system, free for all, but please help make it better and refine it

right now, the sheets available are the full bloated backtest versions so everyone can see the history of the system's performance and where the numbers come from. the biggest help right now would be to check the formulas in the last row and see if there is a way to do what I did faster or more efficiently, and to see if there are any errors that I overlooked.
eventually I would like to get this don to a "production" version that has the state's game history on one worksheet and an interactive form on another that allows you to enter results and generate the next pick... any ideas there would be great ;-)
Right now, I have observed the mechanism that breaks ties in picking the number most frequent always picks the lowest number in the tie, one thing I will be doing is altering this to see if the highest picks more winners. Another of my experiments is to take the pick4 sheet and re-do it for MASS lottery results to see how well it does in another state, remember, to use different data, you need to autofill ALL of the formulas from the last row up to the 3rd row.

This looks really promising. I want to help, if I can. Will you create a simple step by step Legend for us to better understand what you have done and are doing. So far, I am understanding that you have gone back through the PA daily Lottery Results by position and totaled the number of occurrences for each of the ten (0-9) that followed. Then based on the digit that has followed most often, will then become the predicted digit to play in that position?

hypersoniq, When you say entire history,Do you mean when the game frist started, Our we can go back 3 to 4 years to back check.

honestly, I don't know yet. That's one thing that can be checked out, limiting the history to a few years (no meaningful data emerges for the first 400-500 draws though... picks are 000 or 0000)

A = Draw Number
B = Draw Date
C = Number entered as a Combo
D = First Digit of Combo in C (DRAW)
E = Second Digit of Combo in C
F = Third Digit of Combo in C
G = Digit Preceding Digit of D (PRECURSOR)
H = Digit Preceding Digit of E
I = Digit Preceding Digit of F
J = Digit Following D (ANNOUNCER-will read 000 for last draw)
K = Digit Following E
L = Digit Following F
M = First Position VERTICAL PAIR (column G digit*10 + column D digit)
N = Secondt Position VERTICAL PAIR (column H digit*10 + column E digit)
O = Third Position VERTICAL PAIR (column I digit*10 + column F digit)
P = Intentionally Blank (for readability)
Q-Z = number of times each digit in row 1 of Q-Z followed the vertical pair in M
AA = highest number in the Q-Z count range
AB = Intentionally Blank (for readability)
AC-AL = number of times each digit in row 1 of AC-AL followed the vertical pair in N
AM = highest number in the AC-AL count range
AN = Intentionally Blank (for readability)
AO-AX = number of times each digit in row 1 of AO-AX followed the vertical pair in O
AY = highest number in the AO-AX count range
AZ = Intentionally Blank (for readability)
BA = FIRST POSITION PICK for the next draw
BB = SECOND POSITION PICK for the next draw
BC = THIRD POSITION PICK for the next draw
BD-BF = Hit test, for example, if BA=M, then it is an X, otherwise blank
BG = counts "x"'s in BD-BF, 3's are straight hits! you can see the gaps by using Data: Filter: AutoFilter on this column to show only "3"s

rock50, I am not done that version yet... to make this work for new draws, add the next draw info to the bottom row and
IMPORTANT TO ALL USERS: YOU MUST hit F9 to Manually recalculate after ANY changes... auto-recalc was disabled to speed up development.

Another angle would be how to apply this type of system to jackpot games? can it be? the rules are totally different...
Something relatively easy with not too many numbers and no bonus ball... PA cash5 comes to mind as an early candidate, since it has a great deal of historical draws and the ball range is 1-39.
