You know the rules, with TEN numbers or less, predict the white balls and powerball. So let's PLAY.

The Pigskin Challenge: POWERBALL 3-16-'05

$18,000,000.00

1. The object of The Pigskin Challenge is to correctly identify all the  numbers to be drawn in the Powerball game.

2. No more than ten number selections may be used to predict the numbers from the 5/53 matrix.

3. Prediction of the red PowerBall number from the 1/42 matrix is now officially a part of The Pigskin Challenge.  No more than three number selections may be used to predict the red PowerBall.

For those who dare, you can specify one number from your picks in each matrix as most likely to hit . Just be sure to make it perfectly clear which one number you are selecting as most likely to hit in each matrix. There's no penalty if you don't specify any most likely numbers. It's just an attempt to get a little better read on how well our systems are working as opposed to having our numbers come up by pure chance.

This is all done with an eye toward helping us improve the accuracy and consistency of our prediction skills. Hopefully, it will also help us find a way to crack this PowerBall game.

The 'skindex rating system will be applied to all entries for purposes of evaluation and comparision of our efforts. The maximum possible score is 100 points.

Good luck to all Challengers,

aye'

My number selections for Wednesday night's drawing are:

6-15-17-21-23-30-35-45-46-52  PB: 4-27

I made some adjustments to my selection method, so these numbers should perorm much better. I'm hoping I might have arrived at something that will allow me to work with fewer numbers in the future. We shall see.

Good luck,

aye'

oh and by the way, if #17 comes up as the powerball number I'll be forced to move to a country where they don't have a lottery.

Don't I get any points for the PB prediction? I am proud of myself.

Another winner, darn. Time to start over. And I was planning to win next drawing.

The lottery commission here in Western Missouri is still running radio ads in which one guy runs into a friend who just won a $10 mil jackpot in PB and instead of congratulating him he says critically, 'everyone knows you never buy a ticket until the jackpotr reaches $50 million".  Then the announcer cuts in and says, "$10 mil is still a lot of money to most people."

And during the time these ads have been running, all these low jackpots are being hit.  Karl Malden, the cop on the TV show 'Streets of San Francisco' used to say all the time, 'I don't believe in  coincidences'.

I don't either.
