I am looking to shore-up any loose ends in the LP results database and add any remaining data that is missing.

In other words, I would like to ensure that we have the complete drawing history of every single game, back to the very first drawing.

Most games have this already, but I'm sure there are some that have missing data, even if it is from 30 years ago.

Here's where I can use your help:  Since premium members have access to the entire LP database, I am looking for premium members to help identify those games with missing data.  Maybe if you could check your own state, or even if you want to check some other states, if you could check the earliest date in the LP database for the games, and match that to the start of each game (which should be available from the state lotteries, most likely on their site), and post back with any games with missing data.

The reason I'm asking for help is that it's just a lot of legwork, and if we could spread the work around a little that would really help.  Then when the data gets loaded, we all benefit.

Love to Help, I have data from 1977 for PA Night Drawings - how would I send this load to you?  I mean its a lot of info to email you?  Snail mail?  FED Ex maybe?  LOL!

I actually have all of PA's drawings already loaded.

That's why the thing I need help with is verifying the drawings that I have loaded in the LP database vs. what the first drawing for the game is.

If I just get offers of sending me data, then I need to go into the LP past drawing history myself and look to see what's there -- so I'm doing the work anyway.  I'm just looking for a time-saver so I can get this done.  I hope some people can step up.

I maintain a list of the entire run of NY States' Pick-3 game.  The start of your list is right on the money. 

If I could suggest something for you as you try to confirm your list from around the nation, maybe you could give a number of drawings you have for each game just to see if you missed any entries.  For example in New York State, we are up to about 13,212 drawings for the pick 3 game.  If you missed any drawings, then we could compare numbers.  Or another way to check would be to give a sum total of the value of each drawing then you could see if that value matches up with someone else who has a master list. 

It's real easy to transpose a number when entering them into your list.

I appreciate the interest so far.  I think I need to be more specific on exactly what it is I need.

If you would like to check out for missing data, I need just the actual date of the first drawing of the game, and the first data in the LP system.  

For example:

• Western Canada Pick 3, actual first drawing: 12/1/1992    (this is not the real date, just an example!)
• Western Canada Pick 3, first draw in LP database: 11/1/2001

I don't even need the drawing data, just the fact that the first drawing of the game is different than what is is the system.

If you check the game in a state and the LP database has all the drawings for all the games in that state, a quick note like this is fine:

• All New Jersey games: 100% complete

For the states where I have imported all the data, I have very good data in there, so I'd like to just concentrate on the missing data/states right now.  I really appreciate the offers of data, but it's very important for me to get the data directly from the states themselves, so I can say that it is official.

The number of drawings for each game is displayed at the top of the page when viewiong the past results.  I think you're counting the number of midday and evening games together in your count of 13,212, right?

I don't worry too much about transposing because all numbers are imported into my system by computer, never hand-typed.  It ensures that whatever is on the list in entered 100% perfect.

That's right, the list I maintain considers the midday & evening draw for New York Pick-3 to be the same game. 

I started my list back in 1997.  At the time you had to send a check to the state, (I think it was $12 or $15) and they sent you a broad stack of 11 x 17 computer printout sheets.  I had to painstakingly input the then 6ooo+ numbers by hand.  

I'm sure you know what a tremendously valuable resource this is.  I haven't done any comprehensive research, but most of the states I've looked at over the years only offer access to a single year of past results - in a fashion that is not particularly user friendly to transfer to an Excel sheet.

ok, i checked out mo-town (MO) and the games actually started in 1985 and the website only list a dataBase back to 1998, i did email them askinig, how to get game history dating back from the begining drws.  if they give it to me, u got it.

Oregon is a weird state! They only list the past results back to 2007 for most of their games.  They use to have complete archieves one could access but I was not able to locate them today.

Megabucks in Oregon started 11/20/1985

      LP's Megabucks data base goes to 1/1/1997

Win 4 Life appears to be complete

LP's data base for Oregon Pick 4 goes back further than the state site .... so I can't tell if it's complete ... and I don't usually play this game so don't have my own data base.

I have updated the first post in this thread with a huge table showing every active game, and the first draw date in LP's database.

I am filling in the actual game info when I get it, and color-coding the rows I know are either finished or need work.

Please keep the info coming, and I'll update the table 1-2 times a day if I can.  I'll continue keeping tabs on this thread too, so your help is very much appreciated!

ok, got a response, they sent me 24 attached files, they are in word, and excel, also they didn't go back from 85' it only sent files starting in 86' and ending in 09.

I appreciate the offer, but please understand that most (OR ALL) of the databases on the Internet have many errors, quite possibly including the GH database.  I have had to do so much work to scrub the errors out of my initial database, because several years ago I made the mistake of trusting a data load from another web site.  Never again!  All of the data comes directly from the lotteries now, so it is as close to error-free as it gets.

Thanks, I went ahead and fixed the problem with Fantasy 5 and did a refresh on all results for that game, so it's been marked "complete".

What are the start dates for each of the games, so I can update the chart?  (The missing info that I need to find out for every row in the chart is the actual start date of the game.  Just knowing that it's different still means I need to track down that info.)  Thank you.

When I first started this, I was asking people to track down the first draw in the LP database, something only premium members could access.  But it turned out that I could pull that together myself, and now I only need help tracking down the first draw dates from the states -- something that obviously does not require a premium membership.  So anyone can help me track that down.

Use of LP's extensive and accurate database is something that you'd have to be at least a Gold member to do.  Gold membership lets you see the raw data, and Platinum membership gives you some very slick tools to search it and gather stats.

Just about every premium feature has a trial mode so you can see how it works before upgrading.  Details and links can be found by clicking Premium Memberships on the left.

For the TX lotteries you can go to the website and download the info. you need. Click games then the particular game you are interested in. Click winning numbers and you will see the years listed. You will also see a tag for all years. That is the file that contains all of the drawings from the first to the last. If you click the all years tag on the cash five screen you will see the drawings all the way back to the very first dawing of Oct. 13, 1995. The 07-29-02 date is when Cash 5 went from 39 numbers to 37 numbers and from 4 nights a week to 6 nights a week.

I am so sorry. The web site is txlottery.org. I forgot to put that in my original post. I also forgot to mention that 05-07-03 TX Lotto changed the format to that like powerball/mega. Five numbers drawn plus bonus ball. That format ran from 05-07-03 to 04-22-06.

That's OK, I know the official site address.  With the Mega Millions game, I will actually have the results input back to the original Big Game (first draw 9/6/1996).  Thanks again for the info.

All Texas results have been updated and verified, including past jackpot data.  The grid on page 1 has been updated.  The first Two Step draw date in the Lottery Post database (5/18/2001) was in fact correct (not 5/15/2001).

Whew!  Been doing some serious number-crunching today.  All Virgina and Florida results have been loaded and verified from the inception of each game.  This is in addition to all the Texas games, which I did earlier today.

Also, I have loaded all Mega Millions results, back to the first drawing of when it was called The Big Game (9/6/1996).  Looking at the past results, one would notice whether they are viewing The Big Game or Mega Millions results because the bonus ball is correctly named the Big Money Ball for The Big Game and the Mega Ball for Mega Millions.  Big Game/Mega Millions Jackpots are loaded starting in June of 2000, but I'm having trouble locating jackpot data earlier than that.

Canada Super 7 will be retired on Sept 18 2009.

South Carolina is 100% Correct

Thank you very much, that's very nice to hear!  My "nit-pickiness" (attention to detail) comes as a result of my career as a consultant.  In that field, it is both a survial technique as well as a differentiator from competitors.

I updated the grid with the Hot Lotto first draw date.  LP had every draw.

I am still undergoing this process, and it is a lot of work.  I could really use some help from people who are looking to "give back" a little to the site that helps them every day!  It just requires a little digging at your state lottery site -- or if you'd like to help with states other than your own.

Yes, that is great, thank you!

I have updated the chart on page 1, and you can see the info that I used/needed -- which was the start date of the very first drawing for each game.  It's basically a big checklist that shows the first actual drawing, and the first drawing in the LP database. 

If the LP database does not have all the draws I highlight the row yellow.  If it does have all the draws, I highlight it gray.  That way we can all see at a glance what information I have already compiled, and what games need my attention in order to load old data.

So basically I just need the state, game name, and date of the very first drawing for the game.

To complete Georgia, are you able to find the first drawing of Fantasy 5?

I appreciate the help very much.  My plate is completely full of activities, so much that many things are not getting done at all.  Any help I can get from members to relieve me of some of the grunt work (like researching dates) really helps me out.

Following up on Florida, the first drawing of Play 4 Eve was definitely 7/4/91.  They do in fact have that date in their draw history too.  The result was 0-2-3-0.

On the other Fla. games, you're right, I'm not sure why I have the wrong dates listed as confirmed, but I think your dates are off too.

The Lotto first draw was 05/07/88.

Whew, I have finished updating the chart on page 1 with all the new data and hopefully got all the colors right for easy scanning by eye.  I input the Florida dates per my previous message, but if you feel those dates are wrong, I will certainly change it to whatever the correct date is.

I have tracked down most of the Quebec dates and updated the chart.  La Mini is going to be an interesting one to get a hold of the numbers for, because the game stopped its drawings at some point, and because it started back in 1970, it is highly unlikely that the results exist in electronic form.

Now that I'm looking back at the Florida Lottery, I see why I was wrong. on the Fantasy 5 drawing.  The game was "introduced" on Friday, 4/28/89.  I hadn't taken into account that this was a Tuesday/Friday draw only, which would indeed make the first drawing Tuesday, 05/02/89.  I incorrectly assumed the 28th was the first drawing because of it being a Friday, but then looked into the complete list of data, and saw that 05/02/89 was the first, which makes sense since they wouldn't have had much tickets sold if they drew the day they introduced it.

I agree that the first Lotto draw was 05/07/88 based on the complete drawings history they offer in PDF format.

Finally, I also aggree with your 7/4/91 date for Play 4 Eve.  I had read conflicting information on this date on the FL lottery site, and just took a peak at the winning numbers list and 7/4/91 is indeed the first drawing.

Again apologies for the confusion on this one as well.  The reason I came up with the 06/07/2000 date was because SuperLotto Plus has changed format many times.  I have confirmed that this game did indeed start in 1986, but can't find a specific date.  The game was in a 6/49 format originally but between 1990 and 2000, the game changed formats from 6/49 to 6/53+1 and then to a 51 number game.  The game then changed to the current game format on 06/07/2000, which is where I came up with that date.  Since the California Lottery didn't have a history page, I used their past winning numbers charts to find the data, and they started with 06/07/2000 because of the format change.

Again sorry for the confusion on this and the Florida dates.  I'll send off the links to the data I could find for you via the Contact Us form as you suggested in a bit.

It's perfectly OK.  In fact, I find this kind of checking and double-checking to be the best way to iron out lottery data.  It is really difficult to do, and it's almost impossible for one person to do it alone.

For those games where you see data at LP stretching back to the 1970s-1980s-1990s, those are almost always games that I was able to previously track down the past results for, and got them loaded.  I think my 10/18/1986 date for Calif. SuperLotto is the first draw, but I just haven't been able to verify it yet.  I believe at one point I obtained the draw history, but I just can't remember.

Well, I just sent you a message via the Contact Us form with the links to a "little bit" of info.   Hope it all helps out, and should keep you busy for a bit!

Anyways, because of the issue with the Florida Fantasy 5, I went back and double checked all the dates that didn't match up.  I did find a couple errors on my part.

Connecticut Lucky-4-Life you were right, I hadn't taken into account drawings only on certain days of the week and went by the "date introduced."

Again another snafu, Georgia Fantasy 5 first drawing was 11/18/1994.  Again, didn't consider not being daily drawings, ugh.

Also, you listed the Georgia Fantasy 5 date in both the Florida and Georgia boxes on the master list.

I am happy to report that the Florida results are complete, now that I have finished collecting and loading the Lotto and Mega Money results back to the first draws of each.

Too bad nobody else is joining in to help here (other than Jeff), but at least I'm continuing to plug along.
