Did anyone take the time to see if she had performed at some hotel or resort opening, some debut of one of his properties? If he wrote her a check for her services, then he's 100% correct.

If the whiners are complaining about Trump inserting himself into this sad news story, then they have a point - not counting the one already atop their heads That's what he does, he has an ego, a massive one, but so did Obama...who was constantly self-referential. I was surprised the White House didn't explode when they met there on Trump's inauguration day...from the sheer internal pressure of two "YUGE" egos.

Move along, folks...much to-do about nothing, just more faux outrage, another temper tantrum from the immature TDS crowd.

They aren't going to get the house back.

@ Mike Your point is very valid if she was booked to entertain at one of his hotels. Same thing crossed my mind when he said that.

Liberals should do their research before levying criticism.

I wish they'd done their research before electing and re-electing Obama, but what else can we expect from low-information voters? (to be fair, the right has its own fair share of them, but the vast majority are on the left...evidenced by several L.P. members who frequent these blogs.)

Um, Aretha Franklin was SELF-EMPLOYED just like any and every other song artist, and, therefore was working for herself regardless of who simply contracted HER SERVICES. Done.

^ One of those low-information people I mentioned above. (I would have said "voter" instead of people, but felons usually cannot vote...and odds are he is one)

"Working for herself"? Did she pay herself, too? -snicker- Uh, if you hire a painter, a CONTRACTOR, to paint your house, he is SELF-EMPLOYED, yet while he's painting your house, he works FOR YOU.   He's not a full-time employee, yet one in your employ until the job is done. She sang at several of his resorts and hotels, so yes...she DID work for him.

NOW it's "Done". End of story.
