That was certainly interesting and is something that I hope comes to fruition. I liked his "Solid world", his own portal with tabs to his calendar and contacts, plus the ability to quickly access his music and other data that's stored in the Cloud, only it having no access to anyone else. (although I suspect it could easily have the ability to share files)

I guess you heard about the massive Facebook breach this last week? Something like 50 million users were affected and it makes me glad that I got off that platform a yr. ago. I had been warning about their lackadaisical approach to security for at least a yr. prior to that, esp. with the apps people used. Several of my friends had their accounts literally taken over by what they thought was some seemingly innocent game application.

While it's bad enough to have my personal information sold to third parties, it always bothered me that they wouldn't even acknowledge it (except in the fine print on the TOU you had to agree to when you signed up), it was that you wouldn't be told just WHO these third parties were. And, as Facebook proved, they really didn't take security all that seriously, treating our personal information like a purse left on a car seat...with the window open.

I have adblockers for many websites, whitelisting some such as here in L.P, but it's very disconcerting to write someone as I did a few months back, a fellow LP member, telling them if I won the lottery, I want a nice kitchen and I thought I'd really like one of those sous-vide cookers. I sent the email, but after visiting other websites that day, I was shocked at the ads for sous-vide cookers as well as advertisements for both national lotteries.

That was from my Gmail account and it reminded me when Google first started and the inventors of it promised "to never be evil". Took a while, but that promise certainly was broken.
