The real reason is hidden down the article, about halfway down the page and that's the large numbers of Republicans who were retiring from office. The RNC didn't even try to defend those districts, effectively ceding them to the Democrats.

But, nearly all of those leaving were RINOs or Anti-Trumpers, so no great loss. I think there will be effective and legitimate Republican challengers to those same offices in due time.

I don't think the GOP is all that divided; as I pointed out, the ranks are being purged of RINOs and the Anti-Trumpers and will make it a stronger party for it. It's like an NFL team cutting some players and bringing in others...they're "retooling" not "rebuilding".

One thing I found quite telling was that every Dem. Senator in a competitive race who voted against Kavanaugh lost (Donnelly, Heitkamp, McCaskill and Nelson) and the one who voted for him - Manchin - won.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

It is up to the Democrats being in control of the House now to get legislation passed.

And what exactly is that legislation?

How about healthcare, Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, pre-existing condition, prescription drugs...just to name a few.
