But, but, but...we were told that GM had paid back that money, with interest! GM even ran a series of commercials saying so.

But...there's more to the story. Even FactCheck says they still owe billions:

If the govt. - meaning "we, the people" - own 61% of GM, then we're a majority stockholder and they have to dance to OUR tune.

When I've discussed "If we won the lottery" with people, we often talk about the car(s) we might buy. I don't think I'd ever buy a GM product. At least BMW has plants here and wants to build two more, I just read.

Thanks Mike. I wish they could freeze their assets as repayment of the debt. I was foursquarely against bailing them out because I smelled a rat at the time. I've always been a Ford person and after this fiasco wouldn't consider purchasing GM anything were I in the market.
