Comparing the polio vaccine to the different iterations of the covid mRNA shots is not a good comparison. The main reasons are the time of development, severity of the disease, recovery from infection, length of human trials, motivation for profit, liability waivers for the manufacturers, and most of all, the apparent lack of effectiveness and unusually high incidence of adverse reactions and death in such a short period of time.
