Getting nicotine out of hair

Published:

I have searched for a long time for something to get the nicotine out of my  gray hair. Could not find anything or a reference to it on a search.

I went to a new barber this past week to get my hair cut.

She told me to use baking soda in my hair shampoo and let it soak for about 5 minutes before rinsing.

It will take a few times before the nicotine comes out.

It is also getting the nicotine off of my fingers too and I hunted and used different things to get it off my fingers .

I use about one tablespoon full with the shampoo.

The nicotine in my hair is coming out and also mostly gone on my fingers.

Probably another week will do.

Have you ever thought of this? Stop smoking! :-)

Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser works wonders too, but he might not be your type.

Are you going to stop smoking John??? I'm assuming since you are attempting to get it out your hair and from fingers because if you continue to smoke, unfortunately there is NOTHING you can do to rid yourself of the smell. Any NON-SMOKER can tell a smoker instantly because the smell is ALWAYS there although it may appear faint or gone...trust me if you are still smoking, the smell is still there. (wink)

Yikes. I can tell a smoker a mile away. My dad was a chain smoker. He died of lung cancer at 54.

Good luck in your efforts.

Lemon juice will help some. However the fact is you could wash your hair with all kinds of products but as soon as you light a cig. The smoke gravitates to your hair first. Then your clothes and body, it's a no win situation if your trying to stop your hair from smelling like nic. Your gonna have to stay away from cigs and people whom smoke.

I know this may be falling on def ears/eyes i deal with it myself and have found it's something you have to live or die with. Unless we stop and stay away from other smokers there is no remedy.
