President Obama and Gov. Jan Brewer are set to meet face-to-face at the White House on Thursday to discuss Arizona's efforts to combat illegal immigration.

The tough-talking Arizona governor will be taking her case for border security to President Obama on Thursday, and has no plans to back down.

Gov. Jan Brewer, who has been both cheered and jeered for supporting a law aimed at fighting illegal immigration that some call "racist," plans to take the White House to task for failing to secure the nation's border.

"Mr. President, we need our borders secured," she told CNN's John King on Tuesday night. "How can we work together to get it done? We need your help."

She may find herself in an uphill battle, however.

The President has called Arizona's anti-illegal immigration effort "misguided," and the Attorney General has raised the possibility of filing a lawsuit to stop it.

If that happens, Brewer told CNN: "We'll see [Obama] in court."

"I have a pretty good record of winning in court," she added.

Brewer indicated she would not agree to postpone the law, which is set to go into effect at the end of July.

"Eighty percent of American[s] agree with me, agree with the state of Arizona, and I think it's important that the President and I sit down and discuss why it is important."

President Obama announced last month that he plans to ship 1,200 more National Guard troops to the border to beef up security, and also seeks to send $500 million to fund improvements.

"This administration has dedicated unprecedented resources over the past 16 months to fulfill the federal government's responsibility to secure the Southwest border," an official told Reuters.

But Brewer argues more needs to be done, and it needs to be done now.

"The people of Arizona are discouraged, they're fed up," she said. We've had security flaws on the border for years now."

"A nation without borders is like a house without walls," Brewer said. "It collapses. And that's what's going to happen to America."

I was going to start my own blog entry called "political amnesia."

If anyone has just 5 minutes, here's a video of a speech by John McCain in 2007. Isn't he from Arizona?   This is when I had more respect for McCain and was thinking of voting for him when Hillary Clinton didn't get the nomination.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sIEAD_sVF0&feature=fvw

It was in 2007 that 2 Border Patrol Officers in Arizona were convicted and sent to prison for shooting a suspected drug dealer.   I wrote letters protesting and asked that they be released and honored for doing their jobs, which was stopping a drug smuggler. Obama was NOT in office then.

Obama is not the reason there are 12 or more million illegals here. (probably closer to 20 million) I've lived in Southwest Florida for 16 years, so don't think I haven't seen the influx of people from Mexico taking away our jobs, legal or not. As far back as 1994 I was asked if I spoke Spanish fluently at job interviews. Since then tens of thousands of workers came here during the construction boom and then got lost in the system.

Listen to McCain's compassion in this speech and how we need to give amnesty to the people who are already here. Now find a current article and listen to what he's saying. They're all playing political games.

Of course Obama is President now and responsible for whatever happens in this country, but the majority of laws that are in force now were passed during the 8 years Bush was in office.   Asking people to prove they are citizens just because they're Hispanic isn't going to help the immigration problem. We need to secure our borders and enforce the laws we already have.

By the way, I never said I was for or against this immigration bill, only that people need to stop being hypocrites and complaining against more government and then agreeing that the cops have a right to hassle you if you have an accent, dark skin or are just a little "suspicious" looking.
