The democrats have been trying to restore convicted felons like this guy's right to vote.
Gee, I wonder who these dirt bag drug dealers would vote for?
Hmmm... I wonder...

Let's setup a hypothetical because this guy isn't a good example. I am against welfare fraud but not totally against welfare.

Say a person (Man or Woman) is legitimately on welfare and gets arrested. Say it is a bad arrest as well, they are not guilty of a crime.

A) They are innocent until proven guilty.
B) They are allowed bail.

Just where would they get the money to pay the bail if not from their EBT card? It's not like they would have a pile of money sitting around. That is their only source of income. It is ridiculous to oulaw using the card!

I'd say it violates basic civil rights to force them to sit in jail.

I feel like it violates my rights taking money away from me to bail someone out of jail that I don't even know.
Arrested illegally or legally, not my problem.
The government doesn't have any money to bail people out of jail - they have to take it away from other people first. Ask those other people if they want the government to take their money away and give it to someone else so they can get bailed out of jail.

The reality is, welfare gives the people cash. Other than a few restrictions, they are allowed to use it and manage it as they see fit. I am not proposing they get MORE money to pay for bail. I am saying they should be able to use what they already have in their possesion for bail. It's no longer your money once you paid your taxes.

There are plenty of things I don't want my taxes paying but that has never been something that we can dictate to anyone running our government.

If you don't care about innocent people going to jail, I feel sorry for you and I can't understand that kind of mentality. It seems totally against the freedoms this country stands for.

Now if you rephrase the question and ask if I would reach into my pocket and hand cash over to someone to pay their bail, then no, I wouldn't. I agree with you.
