This whole thing has gotten way out of hand. Athletes in professional sports are always doing little gestures after a big play is made and there's no relevance to gang association. It's more of a "good job!", "way to go!", "that's what's up right there!", "you owned that one!" etc. type of deal. Other signs are related to 'peace' or simply speaking in street language. Just a couple of weeks ago, a kid was suspended from school for turning in a can of beer he accidentally put in his lunch box.

He realized what he done, he went to his principal, and turned in that unopened can of beer...an was ultimately suspended under 'zero tolerance' guidelines. This system needs to be revamped because the 'broad brush' approach will never work...you gotta analyze each case individually, interview these kids, and make decisions based on past/present infractions if any at all. While these two cases are different, I will say this: when we begin to punish kids for actually doing the right thing(s), we're in bad shape.

"DEMOCRATS GONE WILD!"
It's not about education.
It's about CONTROL.
