Powerball

A West Virginia man who won a record $315 million in the Powerball lottery was arrested on charges of drunken driving and carrying a pistol, authorities said.

Jack Whittaker, 57, was jailed Tuesday night after his Hummer struck a concrete median near Beckley.

Senior Trooper M.J. Pinardo reported that he smelled alcohol, but Whittaker refused sobriety tests and was "extremely belligerent." Troopers also said he was carrying a small pistol in a boot and $117,000 in cash.

He was released after he was arraigned and posted $1,700 bond.

It was the latest in a series of incidents involving Whittaker since he took home the largest single jackpot in history in 2002. His vehicle, business and home reportedly have been broken into multiple times. The body of an 18-year-old man was found at Whittaker's home in September, although the death was not considered a crime and Whittaker was out of town. He also faces charges of assaulting and threatening a bar manager in January.

You gotta love ol Jack..... Time to get back in the news again.

I still say he will be found one of these days not among the living. I hope he wises up, but it doesn't look likely.

Just keep on carrying lots of cash with you, and try to be as inconspicuous as you can in a Hummer.....

I'm wondering ( not being related to him ) if I can take out a "huge"  insurance policy on him.  Is there a lawyer in the house ???$$$$$$$$$$$???.

Any insurance people in here that can answer my question if "anybody" can take a policy out on another person even if  they don't know each other?

You can buy a life insurance policy on anyone, provided they know about it (they have to sign the application, designate a beneficiary, and sometimes must submit to a physical examination), but keep in mind that you're responsible for paying the premiums. A "huge" policy would require "huge" premiums. Miss a payment and the policy lapses. Insurance laws vary widely from state to state but, generally speaking, if the insured dies within two years of the date the policy was issued, or commits suicide, they'll only pay the beneficiary up to fifty percent of the premiums paid during that time.

If the situation you've outlined were that easy, I'm afraid we'd all have to be cremated when we passed away, because there wouldn't be any room left in the cemeteries. Most people become impatient when they're staring a sure thing in the face, and many would take steps to speed things up a little.

I wonder if he was like this before he won the jackpot? Bless his heart....he is just a country boy enjoying the fame and fortune. He's to old for the good times that he's trying to have......lol reminds me of a Hugh Heffner without common sense.

CASH Only

I don't think you double the "f" in Hefner, unlike your Texxas.

I'll bet Whittaker was like this before he won the jackpot.  As someone in the forums once said, winning a jackpot does not make one a better person; it only magnifies one's characteristics that are already present.
