The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery grew to $256 million Saturday.
None of the tickets sold for Friday's $212 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball. The next drawing will be Tuesday.
There were 22 second prize winners: 4 from California, 1 from Georgia, 1 from Illinois, 1 from Massachusetts, 3 from Michigan, 3 from New Jersey, 4 from New York, 2 from Ohio, 2 from Texas, and 1 from Virginia. Each ticket matched all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $250,000.
The California second prize winners will receive $205,884 each, since California pays prizes based on the amount of sales combined with the number of winners, rather than using the fixed prize amounts the other states use.
Also, 190 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. 41 of those tickets were sold in California and will receive $5,478.
The winning numbers from Friday's drawing were: 3, 5, 12, 16 and 34. The Mega Ball number was 27.
The Texas Megaplier was 3.
The Tuesday $256 million jackpot is the largest Mega Millions jackpot in more than three months. The last time it was this big was Tuesday, November 15, 2005, when one player won a $315 million jackpot.

I didn't know that back in November the cash option was that high.
Well then I do have to update. I agree though. Interest rates were higher back then so that probably accounted for the lower cash option.
