If you played Virginia's Cash 5 lottery game back in January, you may want to check your pockets, bags and glove compartment, because one lucky person is holding on to a winning lottery ticket that is set to expire soon.
A lucky winner purchased a ticket for the Cash 5 night drawing at the 7-Eleven at 9807 Cockrell Road in Manassas on Jan. 12, 2015. The ticket turned out to be a $100,000 winner, but no one has come forward to claim the prize, Virginia Lottery said Monday.
The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
In Virginia, lottery tickets expire 180 days after the drawing. The $100,000-winning ticket is set to expire July 11. The winner has until the close of business the next business day — July 13 — to claim the prize.
If the winner doesn’t claim the prize by July 13, the ticket becomes worthless.
The unclaimed prize money, however, goes to Virginia’s Literary Fund, which is used to help education funds in the commonwealth, such as upgrading technology in schools and supplementing teacher retirement.
The winning numbers were 3, 7, 10, 20, and 25. The ticket matched all five numbers.
The person who has that ticket should contact the Virginia Lottery immediately at 703-494-1501.
GOOOD !!!
Somebody is going to have a wonderful fourth of July weekend when they find their ticket.
They should have mentioned the store , where the ticket was purchased, and that way it could be narrowed down.
I hope they find the winner. I'm sure they will be happy to have the money.
The article does mention the store.
Another $100K going back to the state lottery?
Another lost ticket or expired winner?
Virginia should introduce a players registration card, that would help players keep track of their tickets.
Shoutout to the person that Played the Birthday Numbers on 01/12/2015 to Come Get Your Money before its to Late!
