DODGE CITY, Kan. — A Dodge City man plans to open his own truck repair shop with money he won playing the Kansas Lottery's Kansas Hold 'Em game.

Lottery officials said in a news release 34-year-old Andew Shong stopped at HD's Sports Bar in Dodge City a couple of weeks ago to grab a beer.

"While I was there, I saw these two guys playing Kansas Hold'Em for $2 a hand," Shong said. "I knew to win the maximum you have to wager $10 a hand so I told the bartender to give me one draw for $10."

Sally Lunsford with the Kansas Lottery said Shong's hand turned out to be a royal flush that turned his $10 wager into a $10,000 prize.

Shong told Lottery officials he has long dreamed of being a small business owner, and now that he has won $10,000, he can hopefully make his dream a reality.

Kansas Hold'Em is a virtual poker game with a new hand dealt every 4 minutes and top prizes of $10,000.

That's awesome! May the bays of his shop be filled, and his appointment book be plenty!

Awesome little story, hopefully his business is successful!

I would like to hear more about the game he played, is it like a scratcher or something?

He's better off opening a lawnmower shop. Between rent and tools that 10k won't last long.

That's a fact and if he has to pay taxes on that 10 g he comes away with about 6500 give or take. A shop will eat that in about 2 months if not sooner.

Congratulations to Shong on his nice win.

Hope you have some other moneys to add to your aspirations.

That was a nice win on that virtual poker game.

That game was a bust in Maryland.

I hope he has more saved than just the $10k. (Minus taxes). His business won't get far with just that.  I'm not even sure he can get a loan with just that as down payment.

In any event congrats to him!  Hope he has fun.
