CLIVE, Iowa — The Iowa Lottery unveiled a new logo Monday to celebrate more than 40 years in business.
The Iowa Lottery introduced its fourth logo, which will maintain the shooting star that has been central to the lottery's identity since it began in 1985.
You might know the current Iowa Lottery logo as a circular symbol made up of red, yellow and orange. The new look will illustrate a "streamlined look" using white and blue.
"This new look for the lottery has a punch to it," said Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich in a release. "It's energetic and forward looking, but maintains themes that have been at the lottery's core since it began in 1985."
Starting July 1, the lottery will begin using the new that features one shooting star above the term IALottery. For several years, the Iowa Lottery has used a "Woo-hoo!" recording in its advertisements when a winning ticket is scanned at a lottery terminal.
Officials say the new logo incorporates a "Woo Hoo for You" tagline that references luck and excitement.
"The shooting star has always been central to our lottery," Rich said. "It's a symbol of luck but represents celebration, too. We also view it as aspirational in terms of the vital difference lottery proceeds have made in our state."
Since the lottery started, players have won more than $3.6 billion in prizes. The lottery has raised more than $1.7 billion for the state programs.
