OSSINING, N.Y. — Meat wholesaler Leon Greenberg and his wife are $7 million richer thanks to a winning New York State Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Karin Greenberg purchased a $7,000,000 Cash Blowout ticket with money the couple had left over from a recent trip to a casino and hit the jackpot.

"Karin and I came back from a trip to Foxwoods and had some money left over," said Leon. "She went down to the store to play our daily numbers and splurged on a $25 ticket. When she came home with the $7,000,000 winner, it was unbelievable."

The Greenbergs' ticket contained matching 21s with the $7 million jackpot prize as the payout. "I immediately signed the back of the ticket," said Leon.

Greenburgh chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment which, after taxes, will net him $4,632,600 after required withholdings.

The winning ticket was purchase at the BP gas station at 155 S. Highland Ave. in Ossining, New York.

Yolanda Vega, who presented the couple a ceremonial check on Friday at the gas station, asked Karen what she thought after she won the ticket.

"I thanked God," she said. "I can take care of my kids and grandkids forever."

She went home to give her husband the winning ticket. He said he never played before so he didn't know what he was looking at.

"My first thought was, this is a mistake," he said. "You just don't win $7 million."

The 69-year-old Greenberg said the money won't change him, but it will make life a lot easier. "I plan to continue working, but a few less hours a week from here on out."

As for his plans for how he'll spend his fortune, Greenberg said he'll spread the wealth.

"We have five children and eight grandchildren that we'll help out. I plan to do a lot more golfing and Karin and I will plan a trip to Vegas."

As an owner of a small business, he said he never had time to take a vacation. The last one he took was freshman year of high school. That will change after this, he said, but he still has no plans to retire.

The couple also plans to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project and fix up their home.

Greenberg is the 92nd New York Lottery to claim a prize totaling a million or more this year.

LOL You beat me to it.  If it was him, I'm sure we'd know about it by now.  Personally, I couldn't keep that a secret here.

Will we? Denial sometimes is stronger than an admission GB.Remember when you were a kid, and Mom would ask you " Did you eat one of the cookies?".. and with a straight face you would say No. All the while the crumbs around your mouth & on your shirt says otherwise?

Wow that's a good lump sum. In Illinois or Missouri it would be closer to 3 million.

Had they claimed it in Manhattan they tack on another tax on lottery winnings..so wrong.
