A $14.25 million Texas Lottery ticket that was bought in Abilene over the summer has been claimed just two days before it was set to expire.
The Texas Lottery Commission says AHSODESKA Trust, Catherine Kim Fowlkes, Trustee, of Abilene claimed the Lotto Texas jackpot prize on Tuesday on behalf of an unidentified winner.
The ticket was purchased at HEB on Barrow Street in Abliene. The winning numbers — 3, 4, 6, 23, 34, and 54 — were drawn on June 17.
If not claimed, the ticket would have expired on Dec. 14 — 180 days after the winning numbers were drawn.
HEB was given a bonus check for $142,696.06 for selling the winning ticket.
The commission says the winner has requested "minimal publicity," but says she has chosen to receive one lump sum payment of $10,072,040.86.
"On behalf of the Texas Lottery, I want to congratulate the AHSODESKA Trust on their luck and good fortune," said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.
Kudos to the member(s) of the AHSODESKA Trust !!! Glad to see you made the deadline
Cut that one a bit close.
Too bad your deadline wasn't the 14th of JAN, 2018 then you could have collected anonymously(starting JAN 1,2018)
Congrats on your newly acquired wealth !!! Enjoy for many years to come
well some people are going to have a jolly xmas
Congratulations to the winner in Abilene, TX !!!
They had more patience than I would have had. Every day I would have held that ticket is just one more day it might get destroyed, stolen or lost.
Or maybe a Happy Hanukkah!
That's how you do it! Pay someone else to be the tip of the spear, riding shotgun. The minute you get in front of the camera, you expose yourself & perhaps your family to charlatans & the like. Who needs that? It's this, or the Gorilla suit.
"Pay someone else to be the tip of the spear, riding shotgun"
In this case that someone else is an attorney, and even if she isn't a member at a firm she's probably still less likely to be bothered by people than any non-business person whose name is the one that's publicized.
As for the time to claim, 6 months isn't an overly generous amount for forming a trust, moving, and doing everything else a winner might want to do.
Interesting name for the trust
AHSODESKA
Wonder if it has a special meaning or just a mix of the winners family names ect?
Maybe that's the winners last name. LOL
You saying what l was thinking... after a fashion, Floyd. But hey..
Looks as if it could be pronounced like a common Japanese phrase, "A so desu ka", which has a meaning like, "Oh, really" or "Oh, I see".
AHSODESKA trust. Nice. I always thought I'd use some really messed up, long Russian name to get people and reporters uninterested.
Not me.. I am going with the American Indian name for my trust... Chemquasabamticook
