Virginia woman wins $150,000 lottery payout in one Pick 4 drawing

Virginia Lottery

RICHMOND, Va. — Some people have all the luck. In February, that person was Deborah Brown.

When Deborah Brown bought 20 Pick 4 tickets from the Virginia Lottery — all with the same four digits for the same drawing — she just had a feeling.

"A couple of times during the day, I saw those numbers," she said.

A little while later, when she bought 10 more plays — again for the same drawing with that same number combination (1-0-3-1) — she said she was really feeling it.

Turns out, that feeling was right!

When that number combination was drawn in the Feb. 11 night drawing, each of her 30 plays won the $5,000 top prize, which meant total winnings of $150,000.

"I nearly had a heart attack!" the Richmond woman said as she claimed her prize.

She bought all her tickets at Irongate Shell located at 6437 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield County.

Ms. Brown said she has no immediate plans for her winnings, but she's considering some home renovation.

Pick 4 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m. The top prize for a $1 play is $5,000. The chances of matching all four numbers in exact order are 1 in 10,000.

Nice story to start out the week.   Home renovation?  If home not paid for, pay it off or knock years off of your mortgage.

Interesting . Congratulations. I don't play pick 4 but is there a maximum amount you can win with multiple tickets? I looked at the rules but did not see anything. So could she have bought 200 tickets and won $1 million?

Couldn't find any limit either, Artist77

How about page ten, section 6 about you must agree to the media mess, etc?

Yup!  It only works that way in a "flat" payout state (meaning no pari-mutuel payouts) A man did that in NY many years ago ... 1.4 million. Said he had a dream of his deceased mother, played her birthday and WON!!! The story was here on LP so I'm sure you can probably find it ...

Congrats to Ms. Brown!!! I dream of doing the same one day!

Ky has a limit on how may tickets they sell with a certain combination say 1234 straight.  They are not required to notify anybody of the 'liability limit' as they call it.  On Cashball 225, the liability limit is fixed to $1 million/draw.

I think NY's limit is either 3 or 4 million on both P3/4 ... not sure of exact number, and the way they "notify" you is when you can no longer get a number in and the Agent says that number is closed!  Unlike NJ that will keep taking your money and then payout something like $9 ... on a straight p3 or $100 for a p4!!!

Yea, VA goes way overboard with the publicity. They must lose a lot of money to DC. I avoid buying tickets in VA 99.9% of the time. At least the DC rules are vague so you can use a trust to claim.

This IS newsworthy, when you're able to do BETTER AT PICK 4 games, than money-wasting powerball or as my dad say rip off city..."and i agree to a point with dad and mom. LOLl

THIS IS GREAT!!!

I was just showing my parents when i seen this on our local newsLOL

talking bout it, just a lil brief story in NC, and i was SOOOOO happy hearing this on the news a few days ago and then today here at l-post.

DAD say, "CASSIE it is the only true way to win and to play is multiply/add on as much as you can at times. and he is right" i do well at pick 4 alot of times.

He say p-ball rigged as mega when only 1" person win" lol that's how dad feel." He say, "Why would only 1 or 2 win when it's that high, rather than hundreds to "Get a MILLION EACH or at least four numbers with a power ball" and i kinda agree more and more with him" LOL

Yep. i always make sure i at least TRIPLE to 10x(and this is minimum)LOL i never tell when i go beyond this nice amount if i play it and i do 20 to 50 or more times, i figure, "lets surprise the fam"

 LOL

and those at LP, if i get it the pick four that higH, But i do well with p4 (winning) each year many times."

I love her winning/this story so so much.Hurray!

BETTER ODDS, imo THAN WASTING MONEY IMO(IN MY OPINION) THAT IS, MEGA and Powerball."

CONGRATS. no way BIG BIG CONGRATS. #livebetterParty

#be happy healthy with good fortune lady and please INVEST some."Make it last.
