No lavish European getaways, wild designer shopping sprees or bling bling jewelry for recent lottery millionaires Don and Jennifer Burdette.

OK. So they did splurge a little.

"I had to get myself a dream car," said Don Burdette, who bought a shiny red 2004 Dodge Viper sports car. "But besides that, we're not going to go crazy."

Well, at least for the time being anyway.

The Burdettes, who have twin 16-month-old daughters, are the first Spring Valley family to win the state lottery.

Don Burdette purchased one of two winning SuperLotto Plus tickets in the Jan. 14 drawing to split the $13 million prize.

The young couple opted for the lump sum payment and will receive $2.66 million after taxes. The lottery gives the winner the option of a cash payout or monetary installments over the next 26 years.

The Burdettes should receive the check within the next couple of weeks.

"It's an absolute blessing," said Jennifer Burdette, 20. "I couldn't sleep for five days. We're so on cloud nine."

Now that the days of living paycheck to paycheck are behind them, the couple are looking forward to relishing a more comfortable lifestyle.

They have been checking out homes in East County and plan to move into a home of their own with a back yard large enough for their daughters to run and play.
