First Penn. Lottery Raffle $1 million prize claimed

A Bucks County, Pennsylvania, man has become the first to claim a $1 million top prize from the Pennsylvania Lottery's Dec. 30, 2006, Millionaire Raffle drawing.

John Maier of Churchville presented his winning raffle ticket at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County. After examining the ticket and executing other propriety security measures, Lottery officials today confirmed that it was one of the five top-prize winning tickets from the Dec. 30 Millionaire Raffle drawing.

The five $1 million top-prize raffle ticket numbers; five $100,000 second-prize ticket numbers; and 750 prizes of $1,000 each came from a pool of 625,000 tickets that were sold between Nov. 21 and Dec. 21.

Maier bought his winning ticket at 7-Eleven, 932 Street Rd., Southampton, Bucks County. The store will receive a $5,000 selling bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

The remaining four top-prize winning raffle tickets were sold at Genuardi's Family Market, 200 Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, Montgomery County; Tom's Riverside, 526 Main St., Rimersburg, Clarion County; UniMart, 1960 Adams Ave., Tyrone, Blair County; and Speedy Meedys Inc., 1697 University Dr., Dunbar, Fayette County. Each of these retailers also will receive a $5,000 selling bonus. The holders of the remaining top-prize winning tickets have not yet come forward.

The $1 million prizes must be claimed by presenting a winning ticket at Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters in Middletown or at any of the Lottery's seven area offices located throughout the Commonwealth. The five $100,000 prizes can be claimed at any of the Lottery's seven area offices or at any licensed Pennsylvania Lottery retail location.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters, and Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Lottery area offices.

Holders of Millionaire Raffle tickets worth $1,000 can claim their winnings at any Lottery retail location.
