A lot of it has to do with El Niño. A strong El Niño could bring more rain to California, and could even cause flooding. However, there is also La Niña which has the opposite effect on California’s weather. These two events in nature heavily influences weather patterns and climate change across America. This is taught in 6th grade geography.
