Oops - sorry, Jack. I was trying to correct a typo and I guess I posted twice. No way to fix a comment I guess. I used "threw" and meant "through" Don't think it really matters. Well, at least now you've got 3 comments! LOL

I don't like knocking the police, but here in Lee County I often wonder if petty crimes bore them. My home was burglarized a few years ago and I realized I've been watching too many CSI shows. Fingerprints were everywhere (I have black lacquer & I hate to dust) but they just took down my name and made a few notes. In 1997 a man I worked with came to my home and decided not to leave. I was so embarrassed to call the cops, since I've always lived a quiet life, but this man actually brought his clothes and decided to stay! (He was nuts.) They listed it as a domestic dispute since he insisted he was living with me. He wasn't. They weren't interested in looking at my lease which showed me as the only tenant. I called my landlord, but they took me outside and explained that, since I wasn't injured, I'd have to wait until my life was actually threatened. Honestly, I was in total shock. Why wouldn't they listen to me? Long story, but I finally got smart. (don't want to post what I did) Fortunately he was arrested for another charge in Collier County. Turned out he had a record for drug dealing, assaulting an officer, petty theft, several DUIs and domestic violence (broke an ex-wife's arm, put another through a screen door) Guess they forgot to look up this stuff. Might have violated his rights.... [ More ]
